Subject: 5,200 lbs. Hub and Hub-Drum Obsolescence - Axle Production
In an effort to reduce complexity and provide customers with the best product selection, Dexter
will no longer offer the 5,200 lb. capacity
hub and hub-drum in production axles. Moving forward, axles will be upfitted with the more robust 6,000 lb. capacity hub and hub-drum.
More specifically axle production will no longer use the 5,200 lb. capacity versions of the 008-213-XX and 008-201-XX that utilize the
031- 032-01 (LM67010) outer bearing cup and 031-032-02 (LM67048) outer bearing cone but replace with the more robust 6,000
lb. capacity versions using the 031-029-01 (15245) outer bearing cup and 031-029-02 (15123) outer bearing cone. This change
increases the bearing capacity and life of product but does not change the axle spindle or how Dexter rates axle models. Wheels are
interchangeable between the two capacities since the wheel bolt pattern (6 on 5.5") and wheel hub pilot remain unchanged.
