DESCRIPTION
Newmar has decided to add straps to coaches equipped with a front overhead bunk to
prevent the possibility of the bunk lowering if the latches were not securely or properly
latched and/or unintentional latch release.
UNITS AFFECTED
Please refer to the attached population list for affected units and VINs.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Instruct coach owner(s) to press and hold the release switch for at least two seconds when
releasing the bunk to ensure complete cycle of the latch operation.
2. Use the attached instructions to install a strap on each side of the bunk. This strap will prevent
unintentional lowering of the bunk for any reason.

Instruc�ons for Installing Straps on a Cass Hudson Drop Down Bunk
1. Star�ng on the passenger side with the bunk open, place the strap bracket on the inside of
the upper frame to use as a template. Using a marker or pencil, mark the bracket holes on
each side of the exis�ng bolt.
2. Drill holes in the upper frame using a 13/64 drill bit, drilling toward the valance.

3. Secure the strap to the upper bunk using
#10x32x¾” screws and nuts. Add a drop of
Loc�te on the bolt threads, install the screws,
and �ghten both nuts.
4. Close the bunk. Use #10x¾” pan head tek
screws to atach the other end of the strap to
the lower sec�on of the bunk (as pictured).
5. Repeat the procedure for the opposite (driver)
side of the bunk.
