General Information

Due to liquid crystal display (LCD) shortages in 2021, the ICU4Me instrument clusters received new hardware

and software.

ICU4Me instrument clusters manufactured after September 15, 2021 have new hardware and software;

however, the original assembly hardware and software numbers did not change. Since DiagnosticLink® relies

on the hardware and software numbers to make changes, flashing these ICU4Me instrument clusters resulted in

a blank LCD screen as shown in Fig. 1. New assembly numbers were released on August 22, 2022 to correct

this issue; however, due to the assemblies receiving new assembly and software numbers, and not new

hardware numbers, flashing these ICU4Me instrument clusters also resulted in blank LCD screen.

New assemblies with new hardware and software numbers are available to correct this issue.

Removal

IMPORTANT: It is necessary to remove the optional telltales from the old ICU4Me, and install them on

the replacement ICU4Me. Follow one of the following options below to install the optional telltales in

the replacement ICU4Me:

• OPTION 1 (recommended): Remove both optional telltale holders from the old ICU4Me as

shown in Fig. 2 and install them on the replacement ICU4Me. Make sure to install them in the

exact position and orientation as they were in the old ICU4Me. See Fig. 3. Discard the telltale

holders removed from the replacement ICU4Me.

• OPTION 2: Remove the optional telltales from both telltale holders on the old ICU4Me, and
install them into the telltale holders of the replacement ICU4Me. Make sure to install them in the

exact position and orientation as they were in the old ICU4Me.

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.

2. Before removing the ICU4Me, attach a sticker to the driver side door frame indicating the mileage from the

driver display, and the date that the ICU4Me is being replaced.

3. Remove the ICU4Me. For instructions, see Section 54.04 of the applicable workshop manual.

NOTE: If a replacement of ICU4Me is being installed, or if the ICU4Me parameters need to be

verified or updated, the vehicle will need to be connected to DiagnosticLink and the ICU4Me

programmed by selecting the ’Program Device’ tab.
