Subject: Low Voltage (LV) Battery Maintenance
Models Affected: eCascadia vehicles built from May 2022
through July 2023.
Our records indicate that you are the owner of certain eCascadia vehicles and therefore DTNA has
decided to share the following documentation with you.
eCascadia vehicles are susceptible to a no-start condition, due to degraded and/or depleted LV
batteries. Follow the work instructions to reduce the impact of this issue.

Work Instructions
1.

Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the
tires.

2.

If the vehicle is parked and not connected to a charger, make sure to turn OFF the smart battery
shut-off switch, shown in Fig. 1. The switch is located to the rear of the driver's seat, on the door
side.
IMPORTANT: To avoid accidental activation, the switch must be pressed and held for one second.

If the vehicle is connected to the charger, and is going to remain connected until the next time it is
driven, select ‘Departure time’ under the ‘CHARGE BATTERY’ settings menu to set the anticipated
start of the next shift. See Fig. 2 and Fig. 3.
Setting the departure time will allow the vehicle to keep high voltage ON, and maintain the LV
batteries for up to 48 hours. For detailed instructions, see Chapter 10 of the eCascadia Driver’s
Manual.

Alternatively, if the vehicle is charging in a location where it is safe to do so, leave the ignition
key in the ON position to charge the LV batteries indefinitely.

CAUTION:
To avoid injury from electrical shock, use care when connecting the battery cables. The magnetic
switch studs are at battery voltage.

If the vehicle is parked for an extended period (longer than a week), without being driven, disconnect
the LV battery cables, or attach a trickle charger to the 12V jump-start posts. The jump-start posts
are located under the hood, on the passenger side of the vehicle. See Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.

NOTE: If the LV batteries need to be replaced, make sure to use the originally specified Odyssey/
NorthStar Group 31 AGM Pro-series batteries. If a 12V battery other than the specified type is used, the
calibration may not match, and as a result, the battery sensor may cause fault messages and other
irregular behavior. A66-06013-000 or A66-06013-002 are the only batteries that will work correctly with
the battery sensor on an eCascadia vehicle.
