Update of Condition

Condition
Customer states that the vehicle unlocks itself immediately after locking via the Comfort Access feature
(see Figure 1). This is sometimes possible with both the front and rear door handles. Proper function of the system
may be possible after at least one additional attempt to lock the vehicle.
Area of Occurrence
5711 – Front Door Handle
5811 – Rear Door Handle

Technical Background
This issue may be caused by the incorrect positioning of the printed circuit board (PCB) inside the door handle body.
An incorrect position of the PCB may cause the door handle to continuously transmit unlocking requests after
locking the vehicle via the touch sensor on the outside of the handle.
The manufacturing process of inserting the PCB into the door handle has been optimized to increase the robustness
of the Comfort Access function. Door handles with updated software for enhanced signal filtering are expected
summer 2023.

Duplicate the customer’s concern.
Create a VAL.
Check the historical data in the Rear BCM to see which touch sensor is causing the vehicle to unlock.

Take pictures of the manufacturing stamps on the
back of all 4 door handles (Figure 3) and attach

them to the PCSS job.

Replace only the door handles which exhibit this

condition as per WM 571119 – Removing and

installing door handle (front) or WM 581119 –

Removing and installing door handle (rear).
