Summary

CAUTION
Disconnect the negative cables from the two batteries and then disconnect the
positive cables. Do not disconnect the negative and positive cables from one
battery and then disconnect the other battery, this can cause a short circuit.

Isolate the negative cable shoe with the self-clamping slip-on cap.
Isolate the negative terminal of the battery with the electrical insulation tape.
Do steps 1 to 5 for the LH battery.
Remove and discard the 19 mm isolation nut
from the RH positive battery terminal.
Disconnect the positive cable from the RH positive battery terminal.
For the RH battery only, disconnect the battery charging cable from the RH positive battery
terminal.
10. Isolate the positive cable shoe with the self-clamping slip-on cap.
WARNING
Do the troubleshoot and repair procedure before you replace a blown fuse.
A blown fuse is an indication of a fault in the electrical system that can cause
damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Remove and discard the fuse
from the RH positive battery terminal.
Isolate the positive terminal of the battery with the electrical insulation tape.
Do steps 7 to 12 for the LH battery.
Carefully lift out 2× batteries.

15. Do a check of the hood actuator hose routing.
15.1 If the hose is correctly routed, refer to section Install.
15.2 If the hose is not correctly routed, refer to Correct the hose routing.
Correct the hose routing.
1. Find the hood actuator hose in the hose bundle below the power steering rack.
2. Record the location and remove the zip-ties from the hose bundle.
3. On the LH side only, remove the H2.5 screw from the bracket to release the hose.
4. Put the hood actuator hose at the correct routing position.
5. Put the zip ties on the hose bundle at recorded locations.

6. If necessary, put the zip tie anchor and the zip tie to hold the hose into the correct routing.

1. Remove the self-clamping slip-on caps from the battery cables
2. Install 2× kevlar sleeves on the RH battery cables.

3. Install 2× 24 mm heat shrinks
on the kevlar sleeve ends of the RH positive battery cable.

4. Install 2× 18 mm heat shrinks
on the kevlar sleeve ends of the RH negative battery cable.

5. Use a heat gun on the heat shrinks to seal the kevlar sleeve ends.
6. Do steps 1 to 5 for LH battery cables.
7. On the RH side only, install the kevlar sleeve on the battery charger cable.

8. On the RH side only, install the Tesa fleece tape on the kevlar sleeve ends to seal the kevlar
sleeve.

9. Install the new battery housing
with 3× T40 screws
and nuts to the RH battery
compartment.

On the RH side only. If there is not sufficient space to install the new battery housing,
move the battery charging fuse to the center of the vehicle and attach it correctly
with the zip tie anchor to the front firewall.
10. Install the new battery

12. Do steps 9 to 11 for the LH battery compartment.

CAUTION

14. On the RH battery only, connect the battery charging cable to the RH positive battery
terminal.
15. Connect the positive cable to the RH positive battery terminal with the new 19 mm isolation
nut
.

WARNING
The isolation nut must isolate the positive cable shoe from the positive terminal
on the battery. A bypassed fuse can cause damage to the vehicle or personal
injury.
16. Make sure that the positive cable shoe is at the center the isolation nut. Make sure that it
does not touch the positive terminal of the battery.
Torque: 12 Nm
17. Do steps 13 to 16 on the LH positive battery terminal.
18. Connect the RH negative cable to the RH negative battery terminal with the new spring
washer and 10 mm bolt

19. Connect the LH negative cable to the LH negative battery terminal with the new spring
washer and 10 mm bolt.

CAUTION
Do not turn on the 12 V main switch until you have charged the new batteries.
New batteries can have a low charge level. Damage to the electrical systems
may occur.
24. Connect the 12 V battery charger to the vehicle and charge the 12 V batteries.
25. Adjust the luggage plate.
25.1 If the luggage plate is flocked, refer to Adjust the Flocked Luggage Plate.
25.2 If the luggage plate is leathered, refer to Adjust the Leather Luggage Plate.
26. Install the luggage plate, refer to WOM-00047.

1. Put the luggage plate on the work station.
2. Attach the RH luggage plate template
to the RH bottom side of the luggage plate.

along the template on the luggage plate.
5. Cut the marked area of the luggage plate.

6. Use the sand paper and sand the edges of the luggage plate to make surface smooth.

Adjust the Leather Luggage Plate
CAUTION
Be careful when you work with the luggage plate. Damage to the luggage
plate can easily occur.
1. Put the luggage plate on the work station.
2. Pull and remove the leather from RH edge of the luggage plate.
3. Attach the RH luggage plate template
to the RH bottom side of the luggage plate.
Tool: 170-070-2200
4. Align the template
, refer to the shape of the luggage plate.
5. Put the marks
along the template on the luggage plate.
6. Cut the marked area of the luggage plate.

Make sure that you do not cut the leather.
