THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE TRANSMITTAL
(RRT) **17-062**. ALL APPLICABLE UN-SOLD RRT VIN’s HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY
THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS APPLICABLE TO THE UN-SOLD VEHICLE, USE VIP OR
PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN TECHCONNECT.
SUBJECT:
Front My Sky Panel Unable To Be Manually Removed From Vehicle
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves applying weather strip lubricant to the front My Sky roof panel seal.

LATAM, EMEA and APAC.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after **May 11, 2016 (MDH 0511XX) and on
or before June 13, 2017 (MDH 0613XX)** equipped with My Sky Power Roof Panels
(Sales Code GWN) or My Sky Fixed/Removeable Roof Panels (Sales Code GWB).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may describe that the My Sky opens and vents without issue. When the My Sky
front panel is unlatched it does not release - panel is stuck in place (Fig. 1) .

DIAGNOSIS:
There are two procedures within this bulletin:
• Vehicles equipped with power My Sky panel proceed to Step 1 in repair procedure for power
My Sky.
• Vehicles equipped with manual My Sky panel proceed to Step 1 in repair procedure for manual
My Sky.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers
that describe the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR POWER MY SKY:
1. Use the My Sky key to unlock the panel and open the latch until resistance is felt in case the
panel is stuck. Do not force open (Fig. 2) .

2. Is the panel stuck and cannot be removed?
a. Yes>>> Proceed to Step 3.
b. No>>> Proceed to Step 8 and apply lube to the seal.
3. Ensure that latch handle is in the closed position (Fig. 3) .

4. Press the sunroof open switch to partial open position (Fig. 4) .

5. With My Sky in the partial open position, use a trim stick in between panel and moveable metal
frame to release the seal from panel (Fig. 5) .

6. Continue around the full perimeter of the My Sky panel (Fig. 6) .

7. Press the close button to return front panel to fully closed position.
8. Using My Sky key, unlatch the panel and push up to remove from vehicle (Fig. 7) .

9. Using a clean cloth, wipe off the seal to clean the surface.

10. Using the bottle with the dauber or equivalent, apply weather strip lubricant (P/N 04773427)
evenly across the entire primary seal surface (Fig. 8) .

11. Wipe off excess lubricant from seal.
12. Reinstall and latch panel, then unlatch and confirm panel can now be removed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR MANUAL MY SKY:
1. Use the My Sky key to unlock the panel and open the latch until resistance is felt in case the
panel is stuck. Do not force open (Fig. 9) .

2. Is the panel stuck and cannot be removed?
a. Yes>>> Proceed to Step 3.
b. No>>> Proceed to Step 6 and apply lube to the seal.
3. From inside the vehicle use a trim stick between My Sky panel and headliner. Trim stick needs
to go between panel and moveable metal frame to release the seal from panel. Continue
around the full perimeter of the My Sky Panel.
4. Try to remove the panel by opening the latch and pushing the panel upward and rearward.
5. If panel does not release, try from the outside of the vehicle. Use trim stick between My Sky
panel and trim and continue around the full perimeter of the My Sky panel.
6. Remove the panel by opening the latch and pushing the panel upward and rearward.

7. With the panel removed, use a clean cloth to wipe off the seal and clean the surface (Fig. 10) .

8. Using the bottle with the dauber or equivalent, apply weather strip lubricant (P/N 04773427)
evenly across the entire primary seal surface (Fig. 11) .

10. Reinstall and latch panel, then unlatch and confirm panel can now be removed.
