Introduction
Some 2018 – 2021 model year LS 500 and LS 500h vehicles may exhibit a knock/clunk noise from
the rear of the vehicle when applying the brakes while driving forward and/or in reverse. The noise
is most noticeable when coming to a complete stop. New countermeasure rear brake pads are
available to correct this condition. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address
this condition.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Is a knock/clunk noise present from the rear of the vehicle when applying the brakes while driving
forward and/or in reverse?
NOTE
The noise may be more noticeable at slower speeds when coming to a complete stop.
Use ChassisEAR™ if necessary to help identify the source of the noise.

YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
2. Install updated brake kit to BOTH rear brake calipers.
A. Remove the rear brake pad kits.
