POSSIBLE CAUSE
Due to supplier production issues, the friction disc material may have prematurely worn.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the flywheel, pressure plate, friction disc (Clutch), and release bearing.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Support and raise the vehicle:
1.1. Position the lift pads under the vehicle's front support points and rear support points.
1.2. Raise the lift a few inches, and rock the vehicle gently to be sure it is firmly supported.
1.3. Raise the lift to a comfortable working height and inspect the vehicle support points for solid contact with the
lift pads

2. Remove the front grille cover.
3. Remove the air cleaner:
3.1. Disconnect the intake air duct.
3.2. Disconnect the connector.
3.3. Remove the harness clamp.
3.4. Remove the air cleaner.
3.5. Remove the intake air duct.

4. Remove the 12 volt battery:
4.1. Remove the baffle plate.
4.2. Disconnect the Positive and Negative terminals.
4.3. Remove the 12-volt battery setting plate.
4.4. Remove the 12-volt battery insulator and the 12-volt battery.

4.5. Remove the 12-volt battery box.
5. Remove the 12 Volt Battery Base.
5.1. Remove the harness holder.
5.2. Loosen the bolts.
5.3. Remove the 12-volt battery base.

5.4. Remove the harness holder.
6. Remove the PCM:
6.1. Remove the bracket.

6.2. Loosen and remove the bolts.
6.3. Disconnect the connectors from the PCM.
6.4. Remove the PCM.
7. Remove the Intake Air Duct E and F.
8. Remove the clutch slave cylinder:
8.1. Remove the clutch line brackets.
8.2. Remove the slave cylinder.

8.3. Carefully move the slave cylinder out of the way to avoid bending the clutch line.
NOTE:
•
Do not press the clutch pedal after the slave cylinder has been moved.
•
Do not disconnect the clutch line joints.
9. Remove engine wire harness (transmission side):
9.1. Disconnect the connectors.
9.2. Remove the connector from the bracket.
9.3. Remove the brackets.

9.5. Remove the harness bracket.
10. Remove engine wire harness (engine side):

11. Remove change wire bracket:
11.1. Remove the lock pins.
11.2. Carefully remove the change wire and the change wire bracket together to avoid bending the change wire.
12. Remove the intake manifold bracket.

13. Install engine support hanger:
13.1. Remove the front damper caps.
13.2. Install the universal lifting eyelet with a 50mm (2.0 in) commercially available spacer.
13.3. Install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle as shown.
13.4. Attach the hook to the slotted hole in the universal lifting eyelet.
13.5. Tighten the wing nut by hand and lift and support the engine/transmission.

14. Remove the upper transmission assembly mounting bolts.
15. Remove the transmission mount:
NOTE: Do not remove the bolt called out in the image below. If the bolt is removed, the transmission mount must be
replaced as an assembly.
15.1. Remove the ground cable.
15.2. Remove the transmission mount.

16. Disconnect the steering joint:
NOTE:
•
If the center guide is in place and has not moved, leave it in place.
•
If the center guide has come off, discard it.
16.1. Center the steering wheel spoke angle.
16.2. Install a commercially available steering wheel holder tool.
16.3. Remove the steering joint cover.
16.4. Hold the spline shaft on the column with a piece of wire between the joint yoke of the spline shaft and the joint
yoke of the spline tube to prevent the spline shaft from pulling out.
16.5. Remove the steering joint bolt.
16.6. Disconnect the steering joint by sliding the steering joint into the column shaft.

17. Remove the front wheels.
18. Remove the undercover plate.

19. Remove the engine undercover.
20. Drain the transmission fluid:
20.1. Remove the oil check bolt and the 6 mm sealing washer.
20.2. Remove the drain plug and the 20 mm sealing washer, and drain the MTF.
20.3. Install the drain plug using a new sealing washer.

21. Remove the front brace A or B depending on trim level:

21.1. Remove the outer bolts.
21.2. Remove the inner bolts.

23. Disconnect the EPS sub harness connector.
24. Disconnect tie-rod end ball joint from both sides:
