Condition

Some customers may comment on seeing water leak into the interior, wet carpet or
hearing water sloshing. This condition could occur at either the front and/or rear, and on
the right and/or left side. Water could also collect in the spare tire well if there are any
leaks in the rear of the vehicle.
The cause of the condition may be any of the following:

• "Pin hole" voids in the roof panel to outer ring laser braze and seam sealer. The pin
holes are most commonly found near the top of the windshield or the top of the liftgate
near the D-pillars.

• Seam leak or "Pin hole" voids at the front cowl area.
• Disconnected sunroof drain hoses at the front cowl or at rear locations.
• Missing or misapplied body seam sealer along any of the body seams.
Correction

First, refer to Waterleak Test Preparation in SI to locate the leak area. Then follow the
steps and suggestions in the Service Procedure below.

Service Procedure
Important: Service agents must comply with all
International, Federal, State, Provincial, and/or
Local laws applicable to the activities it performs
under this bulletin, including but not limited to
handling, deploying, preparing, classifying,
packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping
dangerous goods. In the event of a conflict between
the procedures set forth in this bulletin and the
laws that apply to your dealership, you must follow
those applicable laws.
1. Depending on if leaks are found at the front, or
rear, of the vehicle, check the following areas:

Note: The pin holes/cracks may be more difficult to
see on darker color finishes.
• Visually inspect the front and rear, right and left
roof laser braze corners, for pin holes or a
crack.
• Also inspect for missing or poorly applied seam
sealer at the right and/or left cowl, under the air
inlet screen. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel
Replacement, in SI, as necessary.
• If equipped with a sunroof, make sure the 4
sunroof drains are properly installed, and not
plugged. Refer to Sunroof Drain Inspection and
Cleaning, in SI.

– Check for Sunroof Grommet / Close-out plug
missing or not fully seated.
– Check for Paint shop sealer interfering with
sunroof grommet / close out plug interfering
with fit to A-pillar.
• Locate any seams that do not have sealer
properly applied

2. Seal any of the suspected leak areas following the
recommendations below:
• Cowl and other less visible body seams can be
sealed with Kent® Brushable Seam Sealer*,
Kent® High-Tech Seam Sealer Clear* P10200,
or Wurth Euroseal Gel Clear* 18920104, or
equivalent.
• Seal the pin holes/crack in any laser braze area
following the steps below:
2.1.
Mix a small amount of Kent® High-Tech
Seam Sealer Clear* P10200, or Wurth
Euroseal Gel Clear* 18920104, or
equivalent WITH the proper touch-up
paint color.
2.2.
Avoiding excess sealer build up within
the ditch, work a small amount of the
sealer into the hole with a gloved finger.
2.3.
Wipe away any excess sealer with a
light amount of solvent on a rag or
paper towel. The solvent will help the
sealer flow into the hole/crack.
3. Clean and dry any wet trim. Refer to Floor Carpet
Drying, in SI.
