Coolant warning light on or coolant loss.

Technical Background
The left and/or right side radiator cooling fans may be inoperative due to corrosion caused by water ingress into
the fan motors or into the fan control units. As a result, coolant temperatures may exceed the permissible value,
leading to increased system pressure and potential coolant loss from the system. Indication of coolant loss may be
noticed coming from the coolant reservoir.

Production Solution
A splash guard was installed on the cooling fan
to protect the fan motor and the fan control unit
(Figure 1).

Service
1. Remove the front vehicle underbody cover. Refer to Body Exterior >>Rep. Gr.66>>Removal and Installation.
2. Check the both fans for stiffness or rough running. If necessary, replace one or both auxiliary cooling fans (if
applicable).
3. Install the two splash guards.
Tip: The splash guard must be fitted with the arrow on the splash guard aligned with fan control unit.
4 Check cooling system for leaks and repair as necessary.
5. Check fan operation.
6. Reinstall front underbody cover.
