SITUATION
The following complaints may be noticed while slow maneuvering with a steering input of 80-100% (at or
near full lock, e.g., parking lot maneuvers) or accelerating with a medium to large steering angle:
Humming or creaking noises from the rear area
Slight vibrations, also noticeable from the driver's seat
The vehicle may also jerk slightly

CAUSE
Drain all the oil from the HOC and replace the HOC vent line without replacing the HOC.
Vehicle programming and encoding is not required after performing the repair described in the Procedure
section.

CORRECTION
Drain all the oil from the HOC and replace the vent line for the HOC

PROCEDURE
To drain the HOC oil, refer to Repair Instruction 33 10 700 Replace clutch of rear axle differential
(for access, the process of changing the transmission oil on the hang-on clutch is described here)
Ensure that all the oil is properly drained and then disposed of per your center’s local regulations

Carefully pinch the tabs on the old
vent line and pry it out of the housing
(1).

Lubricate the O-ring on the new vent line with HOC oil and carefully seat the new vent line into the
HOC housing
Reinstall the HOC/diff following the repair instructions (filled with proper amount of oil)
NOTE: There is no need for vehicle programming when changing the oil in the HOC
