set forth in this document.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the procedure being performed.
Moving parts can pinch, crush or cut. Keep clear and use caution.
Resources Required
¢ Cordless or electric drill ¢ Non-marking pry tool + Safety knife
or screw gun ¢ Lubricant spray « Ladder, if applicable
¢ Appropriate drive bits ¢ Blunt pushing tool
Procedure
1. Open entry door (Fig. 1A) and screen door (Fig. 2A).
NOTE: Secure entry and screen doors to restrict movement while working. Access will be needed to both
sides of the exterior frame screw track, which secures the door assembly to the unit.

2. Remove the screw covers by gently prying out on the cover at the bottom (Figs. 3A and 3B). There is
one cover on each side of the door frame.
Remove the screws (Fig. 4A) and set aside, starting from the bottom of the screw track of the exterior door
frame (Fig. 4B). The top screws and one screw before the curve of the screw track, (Fig. 4C red box area),
should NOT be removed. Figure 4D green boxed area shows where the screws need to be removed
from the screw track on the exterior door frame.

4. If applicable, remove any secondary fasteners securing the outer frame to the interior walls of the unit.
These fasteners may be found in the either the friction hinge components (Fig. 5A) or possibly in the
exterior frame at random anchor points.
NOTE: DO NOT remove any rivets that secure the screen/entry door to the outer frame (Fig. 5B).
5. Remove and set aside the threshold transition cover (Fig. 6A) from the door assembly, exposing the
transition between the floor material and interior threshold side.

If applicable, remove the strut from the threshold.
If applicable, remove the step assembly from the unit. If the installed step is a Lippert
SolidStep, see the
link for instruction on how to remove the steps https://support.|ci1.com/steps-support-solidstep.
For entry steps not made by Lippert
, see the manufacturer's instructions for removal.
With a non-marking pry tool, from the exterior of the unit, gently pry the threshold lip (Fig. 7A) up and
away from the side of the unit. Work both directions on the threshold until you reach the outer frame.
There may be foam tape or sealant material under the exterior lip of the threshold.
On the outer frame, gently pry the frame (Fig. 8A) away from the side of the unit (Fig. 8B). There should
be some foam tape or other sealant material behind the screw track channel, which is meant to
provide weatherproofing capability. Pry slowly and evenly, working up both sides of the exterior frame
until you reach the last screw still anchored into the side of the unit.
NOTE: When prying the door away from the wall you may need to take a knife and score the sealant to
help it pull free. Take care not to scratch the door frame.
10. Gently pull the bottom latch side of the threshold away from the door frame (Fig. 9A), far enough
to get to access to the two threshold screws (Fig. 9B), securing the threshold to the exterior frame.
11. Remove and set aside the two threshold screws (Fig. 10A) from the latch side of the exterior frame.
This will give access to the pile seal track.

13. Verify that the pile seal track is free of any old pile seal or obstructions. Lubricant such as silicone spray
may be added to the pile seal radii, to facilitate the installation of the new pile seal.
14. Feed the replacement pile seal (Fig. 12A) into the pile seal track (Fig. 12B), taking care NOT to tear or
rip the new pile seal.
15. Make sure the new pile seal (Fig. 13A) is properly seating into the track, and not jumping out of the pile
seal track. If pile seal is jumping out of the track, a flat screw driver or blunt pushing tool can be utilized
to reseat the pile seal into the track. Take care NOT to scratch the exterior frame or damage the pile seal.

Pile seal should feed into the exterior frame through the entirety of the pile seal track, ending on the
opposite side of the threshold (Fig. 14A), which is still secured to the exterior frame.
. Trim the remaining pile seal (Fig. 15A) from the bottom edge of the exterior frame (Fig. 15B) on the
latch side.
18. Align the latch side of the threshold side screw holes to the exterior frame screw holes and install the
two previously removed screws (Fig. 16A).
NOTE: When sliding the door frame back into the wall, make sure not to cut the floor or that the floor does
not curl up.
19. Gently push the latch side bottom of the threshold into the door frame (Fig. 17A). Make sure the
exterior frame is back in place on both sides of the door frame (Fig. 17B).
