WF41 - Replacing Reservoir for the PDK Transmission (Workshop Campaign)

Reservoir for the PDK transmission

Issue:

The 918 Spyder is fitted with a reservoir for the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission
oil that is usually not filled when the vehicle cools down.
Since this reservoir was previously used for another purpose, it shows fill level markings and operating
fluid information that are not relevant for use on the PDK transmission.
As a result, incorrect fluid or incorrect amounts can be filled because a supposed lack of operating fluid
may be detected and the reservoir is filled.

Action
Required:

Replace reservoir for the PDK transmission with a modified reservoir with a securely bonded cap and
without the markings/information.
Information
The vehicle must be checked for defects and damage (damage to paintwork, missing parts, etc.) each
time it is handed over, transferred or delivered. Confirmation that the vehicle is in good condition or
details of any damage to the vehicle must be documented and archived for feedback purposes.

Based on the preliminary work and subsequent work required for both campaigns, there are
overlaps in terms of the required steps and parts.
For this reason, both campaigns must be carried out together on vehicles affected by both this
campaign and workshop campaign WF40.
During warranty processing, Scope 1 of this campaign must be invoiced for vehicles affected by
both campaigns. All overlapping steps and parts for workshop campaign WF40 are covered by this
combined scope and are therefore not included again in the working time.
Scope 2 must be invoiced for vehicles that are not also affected by workshop campaign WF40. All
required steps and parts for this campaign are included in this full scope.
Service Level:

This campaign must be carried out by a Service Level 2 Porsche Dealer.
Service Level 0 Porsche Dealerss are not authorised to carry out this campaign.

In accordance with the service concept for the 918 Spyder, the vehicle must be transferred to the nearest
Service Level 2 Porsche Dealer in order to carry out this campaign.
In this case, please contact the nearest Service Level 2 Porsche Dealer and arrange for the transfer of
the vehicle and implementation of the measure.
Information on invoicing for the transfer of the vehicle can be found under  Technical Information
'WF4100 Invoicing' at the end of this document.

Position the vehicle between the arms of the lifting platform and push it onto the 9453 access ramps.

Loosen left and right coolant reservoir in order to remove the exhaust system at the monocoque and
move them aside with lines connected. For instructions, see:

Disconnect breather pipe  Disconnecting breather
pipe -1- for the engine oil tank and set it aside.

Unclip breather pipe  Disconnecting
breather pipe -1- from the line bracket 
Disconnecting breather pipe -2-.
Unscrew and remove line bracket from the pin
cap.

Release plug-in coupling  Disconnecting

Then carefully push the breather pipe aside. Collect emerging engine oil using a suitable
cloth if necessary.
