The Wheel House cover is metal and Excessive
heat may radiate and cause discomfort if touched

Solution
Adding additional heat wrap around the heater hoses that is inside the cover
Attached procedure will help when applying the extra protection
This document will provide instructions on how to add additional protection from heat that may
radiate from current cover at wheel well.

Work Instructions
Subject: Heater Hose covering at Wheel well
Models Affected: Type D buses
Problem: This document will provide instructions on how to add additional protection from heat that may
radiate from current cover at wheel well.
Inspection Procedure:
1. Turn vehicle off, place in park and chock wheels.
2. Remove the seat bottoms of the seat that is above the wheel well and the seat behind to expose the
heater hose cover. Figure 1

3. Once seat bottoms are removed, the metal covers are to be removed next. This requires removing the
front and rear transition pieces using the screw gun. Figure 2

4. Once the front and rear transition covers are removed, the main cover can be moved off the hoses and
pulled toward the center of the bus to keep out of the way.
5. The heat cover (TBB 203714) needs to be slid under the heater hoses as shown in Figure 3

6. Make sure that the hoses are centered in the cover and the cover is set so that it will cover the wheel
well.
7. Wrap the covering around the hoses and attach Velcro.
8. Slide the metal covering back over the hoses and the covering. Make sure that all covering is under the
metal cover.

9. Mount the metal cover back in its previous location being careful to not drive screws into hose.
10. Install transition pieces back into place.
11. Un-chock wheels.
