Background Information

Internal quality audits have identified a need to replace the left and right hand silencer assemblies
as an ongoing improvement to emission control.

Customer Contact Instructions

Motorcycles in the affected VIN range must be modified prior to delivery to the customer, or at the
next visit to the dealership.

Triumph prior to their release from the factory.

* Replacement silencers can be identified by either a single “/A“ or a double “A A”

Other Instructions

For Triumph Subsidiary dealers using Triumph
Warranty On-Line: All parts will be supplied free of
charge to the dealer. The dealer will be unable to
order parts anc will therefore only be able to claim a
labour amount. Entering the above Repair Code in a
New Prior will automatically add the labour lines for
this Service Bulletin.

Dealer must store all parts in a secure, non-public
accessed area for minimum 930days and correctly
identified with a completed warranty label.

Dealer will render the replaced silencers unusable at
their end to prevent re-use of the parts.

Dealer will submit the photographs of all scrapped
silencers along with a self-declaration letter (To Be
signed by Dealer Principal). A credit mote will be
issued to dealers on receipt of details and after final
submission on Warranty On-Line. An example letter is
provided as Appendix A to this notice.

The scrap generated in the process will be disposed
of by the dealer locally.

Before returning the motorcycle to the customer, download the latest tune to the engine control
module using the current version of the Triumph diagnostic software.

Once completed, mark the Service Record Book that the requirements of this bulletin have been

complied with.

Checking Procedure
Replace the left and right hand silencer assemblies as described in the procedures detailed below.

A torque wrench of known accurate calibration must be used when tightening the fixings. Failure
to tighten any of the fixings to the correct torque specification may result in loss of motorcycle

control and an accident.

Throughout the following procedure, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately
supported to prevent the risk of injury from the motorcycle falling.

lf the engine has recently been running, the exhaust system will be hot. Before working an or

near the exhaust system, allow sufficient time for the system to cool, as touching any part of a
hot exhaust could cause burn injuries.

All Models

1, Remove the rider's seat, as described in the Service Manual.
2. Remove and replace the left and right hand silencers as described in the Service Manual.

3. Start the engine and allow to idle. Using the Triumph Diagnostic Tool reset the adaptions
(ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS > ADJUST TUNE > RESET ADAPTIONS).

4, Allow the engine to warm up, then run an AutoScan. Rectify any defects found.
Refit the rider's seat, as described in the Service Manual.
6. Using a suitable hammer flatten the front tube of the old condition silencer as shown below.

7. Photograph the silencer for your records and dispose of as described in the Genuine Parts
Return Instructions of this document.

This is to inform you that we have scrapped the original condition silencers and replaced them with
the correct silencer as supplied by Triumph Motorcycles an a FOC basis.

The details are as below:

We have also updated all the warranty priors on Warranty On-Line for the issuance of credit notes.

Therefore we request you issue a credit note at your earliest convenience.
