APPLIED VEHICLE: 2014-2015 Rogue (T32)
NOTE: Does not apply to Rogue Select (S35)

IF YOU CONFIRM:
The sunshade fabric catches in its tracks.
AND / OR
The sunshade keeper (front bar) is hanging down.

ACTION:
Replace the sunshade assembly.


Install a plastic retainer clip on the one end of the sunshade.



Refer to this bulletin’s SERVICE PROCEDURE for sunshade removal and
installation.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Sunshade Removal
NOTE:
 Perform all repairs in a clean working environment.
 Use proper protective covering in the vehicle interior when removing and installing
the moonroof unit assembly.
 Make sure hands (and gloves, if used) are clean when handling the sunshade and
all other vehicle interior parts.
1. Put the glass lid (front glass) of the moonroof unit assembly in the fully closed position.
2. Open the sunshade with approximately
eight (8) inches still showing (see
Figure 1).
3. Record all audio presets.


See page 9 of this bulletin for a table
chart to write down all the audio
presets.

4. Disconnect the battery cables, negative
cable first, and then wait at least three (3)
minutes.
5. Remove the moonroof unit assembly
(moonroof), and then place it on a clean
table.

Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section RF-Roof, for moonroof
removal procedure.
NOTES:
 Do not remove either moonroof or sunshade motors.
 The moonroof motor does not need to be initialized as part of the sunshade
replacement procedure. Initialization is needed only when the moonroof motor
has been removed.
 The passenger side front pillar finisher does not need to be removed, just
loosened. The driver side front pillar finisher needs to be removed. Its tether clip
cannot be reused and must be replaced (see PARTS INFORMATION).
 The upper center pillar garnishes cannot be reused once they have been
removed. Replace both upper center pillar garnishes (see PARTS
INFORMATION).



Use protective covering in the vehicle interior when removing the moonroof.



Use of fender covers or suitable protective covering on the table is recommended.

6. Remove the four (4) bolts, and then remove the panoramic roof glass (rear glass) from
the moonroof.


Place the rear glass where it will not get dirty or damaged.

7. Unfasten the front bar:
a. Unsnap the front bar from both
sunshade couplings by pressing
forward (see Figure 2).


approximately 1/8 inch after
being unsnapped.

b. Rotate the front bar 90° (see Figure 3).
c. Pull back the front bar to remove the
ends from each sunshade coupling
(see Figure 3).

8. If equipped: Remove the shaft spacer.


The shaft spacer is mounted on the
passenger side of the sunshade.



Unsnap/remove by pressing up evenly
on the shaft spacer’s open end (on the
bottom) with a screwdriver or other
suitable tool. See Figure 4.

9. Remove

9. Grab the sunshade and push (apply
pressure) to the driver side.


This step will collapse the internal
shaft spring if still wound up.

8. Apply

10. Remove the two (2) T10 TORX® screws
where shown in Figure 5.

11. Remove the sunshade, sunshade stay,
and both shade bases altogether by
pulling rearward from the moonroof
tracks:

a. Grab both shade bases and the ends
of the shade, and then pull evenly
(see Figure 6).

b. Once removed from the moonroof

tracks, disassemble by pulling off both
shade bases.
CAUTION: Be careful not to turn the
sunshade stay or shade bases as the
sunshade stay couplings may break.

12. Inspect the shade bases, including the
sunshade stay couplings (see Figure 7).


Replace if damaged.

Sunshade Installation
NOTE: Do not remove the spring retainer pin in the new sunshade (see Figure 8 below)
until instructed on page 8, step 9. Removing the spring retainer pin before being instructed
may cause the shaft spring to unwind. In case this pin has been removed too soon and the
spring has unwound, the spring can be rewound (see page 10, Rewind Sunshade
Spring).

1. Install both shade bases (see Figure 9).


For original shade bases: Tighten
the T10 TORX® screws by hand.
CAUTION: Do not over-tighten the
TORX® screws or the plastic holes
may become stripped.



For replacement shade bases:
Torque the TORX® screws.
 TORX® screws torque: 1.6 N•m
(0.16 kg-m, 14.2 in lbs)

2. Lay a clean fender cover or suitable
floor covering below the moonroof (see
Figure 10).
3. Unroll the sunshade as shown in
Figure 10.
NOTE: Do not remove the spring retainer
pin at this time.




Make sure your hands and/or
gloves are clean when handling the
sunshade.

4. Feed in the sunshade fabric:
a. Feed the fabric edges and black hems
UNDER the sunshade stay couplings
(see Figure 11 and 15).

b. Feed the black hems UNDER the
lower hem guides while feeding the
fabric OVER the lower hem guides
(see Figure 15).
c. Feed the fabric edges and black
hems in the moonroof tracks.

5. Fasten the front bar in place (see Figure 16).
a. Slide the front bar to position the sunshade couplings inside the front bar’s
open channel.
b. Rotate the front bar downward 90°.
c. Snap in place both ends of the front bar on each sunshade coupling by
pulling back on the front bar where shown in Figure 16.

If snapped in properly, there should be approximately 1/8 inch gap (see
Figure 17.

6. Fasten the sunshade stay in place.

a. Position the sunshade stay couplings
inside the sunshade stay’s open
channel as shown in Figure 18.
b. Rotate the sunshade stay 90° (see
Figure 18).

c. Snap in place both ends of the
sunshade stay on each sunshade
coupling (see Figure 18).

7. With clean hands/gloves, roll up the
sunshade.


Roll up the sunshade as evenly and
snug as it was before it was unrolled,
and without wrinkles.

8. First insert the sunshade’s passenger
side shaft in the sunshade base, and
then the driver side (see Figure 19).


The sunshade’s passenger side shaft
is eccentric, fitting in only one way.

9. With the sunshade in place, remove the
spring retainer pin (see Figure 19).

10. Snap the shaft spacer in place on the
passenger side shaft (see Figure 20).


If there was no shaft spacer originally
installed, install the one that comes
with the new sunshade (see PARTS
INFORMATION).

11. Install the rear glass.
12. Mount the moonroof into the vehicle, and then connect all related electrical connectors.
13. Reconnect the battery cables, positive cable first.
14. Verify the sunshade operates normally.


In this condition, the vehicle interior will still be disassembled if the moonroof needs
to be removed again.

15. When sunshade operation is verified as repaired, close the glass lid, disconnect the
battery cables, negative cable first, and then wait at least three (3) minutes.
16. Finish reinstalling the moonroof and vehicle interior.


Refer to the ESM, section RF-Roof, for moonroof and vehicle interior installation
procedure.

17. Reconnect the battery cables, positive cable first.
18. Reset audio presets, power windows, clock, etc.

Rewind Sunshade Spring
NOTE: If the sunshade spring retainer pin was removed and the spring has unwound, use
the following instructions to rewind the spring.
1. Insert the sunshade’s right hand eccentric shaft in the right side sunshade base.
2. While pushing the sunshade toward the sunshade base, rotate the sunshade counter
clockwise 28 turns.


Two (2) clicks should be felt/heard with each turn.

3. While still holding the sunshade, reverse rotation (clockwise) enough to engage the
internal cam, and then insert the spring retainer pin.
4. Make sure the sunshade fabric is still rolled up snug.

Moonroof Motor Initialization
NOTE: The moonroof motor does not need to be initialized as part of the sunshade
replacement procedure. This procedure needs to be performed only when the moonroof
motor has been removed.
1. Turn the ignition ON.
2. Fully close the glass lid and sunshade by pressing and holding down the moonroof
switch in the CLOSE position.
 Glass lid and sunshade movement may pause a few times while closing or opening.
NOTE: Fully closed is the “home” position.
3. Release and then quickly press (within one second) and hold down in the OPEN
position until the glass lid and sunshade are in the fully open position.
4. Repeat step 2, step 3, and then step 2 again.
5. Verify glass lid and sunshade auto open and close operation.
