Purpose: This is a general information bulletin, to guide the technician in pairing and programming vehicle
key fobs
Pairing and Programming key fobs is done through
Karma Sync.
This is a normal warranty claim procedure if required
(labor code 90-40-12-00).

Program the keys as directed in the Karma Sync tool, begin by selecting the Service Procedures then
Key Fob Learn as shown (fig 1).

Note: If replacing the keys it is best practice to run the “erase keys” routine before fobs are paired.

Place the vehicle in Ready Mode!
All keys will be noted by Sync, however only the present keys will be paired and programmed to the
vehicle, other keys will be removed from activation (fig.2).

Proceed to execute the action, follow instructions as shown (fig 3) the central lock button on the console jewel will begin flashing as the VCM enters fob learning mode.
Follow the Sync prompts to complete this procedure

All keys present will require the procedure to ensure they are paired and programmed to the vehicle
together.

Press and hold Lock and Trunk button simultaneously on the key fob to pair the fob to the VCM (fig.4),
the status of the matched Fob will be in green and marked as “Active” as shown (fig.5)

All fobs should go through the same process one after the other. A successful programming of all fobs
(a maximum of three per vehicle) will result in the display for all fob’s status as “Active” in green (fig. 7).

If this process is performed with out key fobs present the following message (fig.8) appears and fobs
are considered “inactive.”

A successful set of fobs paired to the vehicle will show all available fobs as active (fig. 9).

VERIFICATION OF FOB PAIRING
For each Fob:
Test all the button functions- lock, unlock, and trunk open.
Ensure the new paired and programmed key will enter Ready Mode while in the vehicle,
this is verification of the immobilizer function of the fob.
Testing the immobilizer function of each fob must be in the vehicle with no other fobs in range.
A minimum distance for any other fob, of four meters or more is recommended, to ensure the fobs are
not in range.
