McLaren 650S – Check Engine Coolant Level

McLaren 650S Coupe and Spider

SITUATION :

Quality Engineering at McLaren Automotive have identified that a
number of McLaren 650’s may have left production with a low engine
coolant fluid level, which may result in the engine overheating.

PROCEDURE :

Please follow the procedure outlined in this document to check and
adjust the engine coolant fluid level.

Care point: It is necessary that campaign 11 L 003 is carried out in parallel with campaign 11 B 008
McLaren 650S – Driveshaft Nut Replacement.

Drain Coolant fluid
Care Point: Ensure vehicle is cold before commencing work.
Care Point: The coolant that will be drained from the cooling system will be re-used during refill therefore it
is necessary to use a suitable clean container to catch the coolant.

Please refer to AA-RM-03L01-01-005 – Drain/fill fluid – coolant to drain the coolant.

Measure the coolant removed. This will give a good indication as to the quantity of coolant required on
refilling.

Fill Coolant fluid
Care Point: To fill the coolant fluid it is necessary to use the vacuum fill special tool (Part Number
11S4027CP).

Please refer to AA-RM-03L01-01-005 – Drain/fill fluid – coolant to fill and top-up the coolant as required.
