SITUATION :
Quality Engineering at McLaren
Automotive have identified that there
is a possibility of a clash condition between the HVAC compressor
cooling duct, the exhaust heat shield and the rear sub frame.
This can potentially damage the HVAC compressor cooling duct.
PROCEDURE :
Please inspect the HVAC compressor cooling duct for any damage. If
damage is evident proceed to replace the HVAC compressor cooling
duct. Ensure that the HVAC compressor cooling duct is positioned
correctly so that there is sufficient clearance to both the exhaust heat
shield and the engine frame.
Please follow the instructions outlined in this document.
Preparation work:
1. AA-RM-02A04-04-007 - Lift vehicle on lifting platform.
REMOVAL:
2. AA-RM-02A04-04-001 - Remove/install floor panel - Engine/fuel tank.

3. Ensure that the HVAC compressor cooling duct is securely located into the P-clips (1) which mount to the rear sub
frame. Ensure that there is a 20mm clearance (2) to the exhaust heat shield.

4. Locate the area of the clash between the HVAC compressor cooling duct and the rear sub frame (3).

5. Apply a 60mm strip of felt tape (00RL004) on the edge of the rear sub frame (4) at the point where the two
surfaces meet to prevent the clash condition from occurring. If the HVAC compressor cooling duct is damaged,
proceed to replace this part.

INSTALLATION:
6. Install components in reverse order.

Warranty information: If the HVAC compressor cooling duct requires replacement, proceed to claim an additional 0.1
hours and the cost of the part 11L0228CP in the Additional Costs section of the warranty claim.
