SYMPTOM
You hear a chirping in the cabin with the engine running, the transmission in Drive, and the engine at operating
temperature.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
An issue with the rear engine mount can cause internal components to wear prematurely. This may cause a chirping once
the engine warms up.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Do the diagnosis and, based on the results, replace the rear engine mount.

DIAGNOSIS
1. Start the engine, and make sure it warms up to operating temperature (the cooling fans cycle twice).
2. Put the transmission in Drive, and apply the parking brake. Place a stethoscope or a long, thin screwdriver on the
airbag mounting bolt, and listen for a chirp.

If you hear the chirp from the rear engine mount, go to step 3.
If you hear a chirp coming from the high pressure fuel pump, refer to S/B 16-013, High Pressure
Fuel Pump Chirps.
If you hear a chirp coming from the timing belt area, refer to S/B 16-054, Timing Belt Chirps.
If you do not hear a chirp, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal system troubleshooting.

3. Put the vehicle on a lift, and remove the engine undercover.

4. Unplug the connector to the rear engine mount, lower the vehicle, then listen for the chirp at the airbag mounting bolt
again.

If the chirp is gone, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
If you still hear the chirp, this bulletin does not apply. Connect the connector, and continue with normal system
troubleshooting.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Lift and support the engine with a transmission jack and a wood block under the engine oil pan.
2. Remove the rear engine mount from the right front wheelhouse side.

3. Install the new rear engine mount, and torque the bolts and nuts in the sequence shown.

4. Connect the connector and install the engine undercover.
