Software Update
Today, September 15, 2020, Acura is announcing a stop sale and emissions recall for certain 2017-2020 MDX Sport
Hybrid and 2014, 2016-2020 RLX Sport Hybrid vehicles that may not properly clear specific diagnostic trouble codes
(DTC). Presence of these codes may prevent the vehicle from passing a smog test. Refer to your eResponsibility report
or do an iN VIN status inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected.
Failure to repair a vehicle as necessary prior to sale may subject your dealership to claims or lawsuits.
BACKGROUND
Due to inappropriate calibration of the powertrain control module (PCM), the on-board diagnostic (OBD) system cannot
properly clear certain Permanent Fault Code DTCs as required. If these permanent DTCs cannot be cleared, it may lead
to a failed inspection and maintenance test/smog test.
REPAIR
Update the PCM software.
SOFTWARE
The software will be available to dealers on September 15, 2020.
PARTS
There are no parts needed for this campaign.
TOOLS
There are no special tools needed for this campaign.
SERVICE BULLETIN
Service bulletins 20-039, Emissions Recall: 2017-20 MDX Sport Hybrid Odd Gear Monitor Software Update and 20-040,
Emissions Recall: 2014, 2016-20 RLX Sport Hybrid Odd Gear Monitor Software Update, have beenpostedto the Service
Information System (SIS) as of September 15, 2020. They include software, repair, and warranty information related to
this campaign.
CLIENT NOTIFICATION
Acura expects to begin client notification in early November 2020.
