MY2020-2021 T370s may have had the front axle filled with the incorrect gear oil at the factory.

Chassis Affected
46 chassis (43 U.S. and 3 Canada), including Model Year 2020-2021 T370 vehicles built from 04/30/2019 through 02/06/2020 equipped with a
driven front axle. See the attached chassis list for specific chassis.

Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.

Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” or "In Process" next to the “21001” campaign
code prior to performing this repair.
Follow the procedures below to determine the appropriate repair path.
Vehicles showing ‘NIS’ in the In-Service Date field of SIR and have less than 10 miles; change the front axle gear oil.
Vehicles showing a date in the In-Service Date field of SIR or have more than 10 miles; inspect the front axle carrier as necessary.

CAUTION
Dealers that release trucks on the chassis list without completing the actions described below may face
liability for progressive damage.

Warranty
For repairs completed by 12/01/2020, Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and labor:
0.5 hrs labor to drain and fill the front differential (SRT 021-025). Use Quick Claim Code 21001A.
4.0 hrs. labor to remove, inspect, and repair as needed, the front carrier (SRT 021-003).
Additional SRTs related to carrier repair may be added as needed.
File a long form claim.
File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstances.
File the claim within 14 days in accordance with Warranty Policy C-A-009.
Take-Off Parts Disposition: Destroy take-off parts 30 days after claim is paid.

differential part numbers and manufacturer.

Procedure
Please follow your dealership's safety procedures and precautions to ensure the vehicle can be
safely repaired and maintained.
Vehicles showing ‘NIS’ in the In-Service Date field of SIR and less than 10 miles
Drain and fill the front axle gear oil.

Place a drain pan under the front axle drain plug.
Remove the fill plug.
Remove the drain plug.
Allow the differential to drain for 20 minutes.

Install the drain plug.
Fill the front axle with 75W90 synthetic GL5 gear oil.
Install the fill plug.

Vehicles showing a date in the In-Service Date field of SIR or have more than 10 miles
Refer to service manual SDA-12-21 for instructions.
If the owner/operator of the vehicle reports no issues related to the front axle, drain the front differential.
While draining the differential, inspect the drain plug for debris. If there is no debris, fill the differential with 75W90 GL5 synthetic gear oil
and test drive the vehicle to confirm the differential operates correctly. If it does not operate correctly, remove, inspect, and repair the front
differential as needed.
If the owner/operator of the vehicle reports issues related to the front axle, if needed, make a very short test drive to verify the issue. Diagnose
the issue. If the diagnoses leads to the differential or associated bearings perform the following steps:

Check the availability of the differential assembly.
If a differential is readily available remove, inspect, and repair the front differential as needed.
If a differential is not readily available, then continue with this procedure.
Remove the front drive shaft.
Drain the front differential.
Inspect the drain plug for debris.
If there is no or very little debris present, fill the front differential with 75W90 GL5 synthetic gear oil and release the vehicle to the
customer with the front drive shaft removed. Order a differential assembly.
If there is significant debris present:
a. Remove the front differential.
b. Clean debris from the front axle housing and differential.
c. Determine if the differential carrier bearings are ok.
If they are, remove the ring gear and reinstall the differential.
If the bearings are damaged and the differential is identified as a Dana in the chassis list, replace the carrier bearings and
remove the ring gear. Refer to the
-0055 service manual for instructions. For differentials that are identified as
AAM, there are no service parts available and the hubs are not free-wheeling-the carrier will continue to be rotated by the
axles during vehicle operation.
d. Reinstall the differential with the ring gear removed.
Advise the customer that the front drive shaft has been removed and the front axle cannot be engaged until after the differential is replaced.
