Dear Peterbilt Customer,
Peterbilt is pleased to inform you that certain Right Hand Stand-Up Model 520 vehicles are eligible to receive a Main Cab Harness
improvement. Your vehicle may have been equipped with a Main Cab Harness that enables the Door Alarm to sound when it should be
disabled. Model 520 vehicles with this configuration should have the door alarm disabled when the passenger door is open and the vehicle
is in drive.
What is Peterbilt improving?

Adding a Door Alarm Override Harness to the existing Main Cab
Harness.

What will this improvement do?

The addition of the Door Alarm Override Harness will disable the
door alarm when the vehicle is in drive and the passenger door is
open – as intended.

What should you do?

Contact your dealer immediately to schedule an appointment.

this letter. The work for this improvement will take approximately 1.0 hour of labor depending on vehicle configuration and dealer scheduling.
There will be no charge to you if completed within standard warranty or by July 1, 2021, whichever is later.

Introduction
Peterbilt has determined that certain RHSU model 520 trucks, built from 7/16/2018 to 3/20/2020, may have been
equipped with a Main Cab Harness that enables the Door Alarm to sound when it should be disabled. Model 520 vehicles
with this configuration should have the door alarm disabled when the passenger door is open and the vehicle is in drive
mode.

Resolution
Campaign
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is
on the list.
2. If you are not using SmartLINQ Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the
“34-087” campaign code prior to performing this repair.
3. Ensure all required parts have arrived prior to scheduling the chassis for the repair.
4. Follow the procedures below to install the Door Alarm Override Harness.
1.

Warranty
Through Standard Warranty or for repairs completed by 7/01/2021, whichever is greater, Peterbilt will pay for parts at
dealer net plus applicable mark-up and labor:
0.5 hours labor to install the jumper harness. Use Quick Claim Code 34-087.
File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstances. A quick claim for standard labor must be filed first.
Direct Fleets and Dealer Sponsored Fleets (DSF) may not use quick claims when submitting for repairs on chassis
related to this bulletin but must submit a long form specifying part numbers, quantities, and pricing for parts used in
the repair. Submittal of a Quick Claim for repairs made by the Fleet will be denied as pricing is incorrect on quick
claims.

Procedure
1.

Remove the cover from the doghouse to access Main Cab Harness S92-6361 and Work Brake Harness S92-6017.

2.

Connect the Door Alarm Override Harness connector J001 (PASS DOOR JAMB INT) to the Main Cab Harness
connector P101 (PASS DOOR JAMB INT).
Connect the Door Alarm Override Harness connector P001 (PASS DOOR JAMB INT) to the Main Cab Harness
connector J101 (PASS DOOR JAMB INT).
Connect the Door Alarm Override Harness connector T001 (FBO INST. GROUND) to the Main Cab Harness
connector J041 PIN A (FBO INST. GROUND).
Connect the Door Alarm Override Harness connector J002 (MAIN CAB WORKBRAKE) to the Main Cab Harness
connector P075 (TO WORK BRAKE HARNESS).
Connect the Door Alarm Override Harness connector P002 (TO WORKBRAKE HARNESS) to the Workbrake
Harness connector J1 (MAIN CAB WORKBRAKE).
Tuck the harnesses back into the doghouse and reinstall the doghouse cover.
