DESCRIPTION
If a customer comes in with the following concerns, perform the inspection procedure.






OIL PRESSURE WARNING light and/or the CHECK ENGINE light ON.
DTC P055F and/or P0524 stored.
No driveability concern or engine mechanical noise.
Outside the VIN range in TSB 01-020/18.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the engine oil.Is it above MIN on the dipstick and in good condition using an OEM filter?




Yes: Go to step 2.
No: Correct condition then go to step 2.

2. With the engine turned off, disconnect the oil control valve located on the lower backside of the engine
block (NOT the OCV located on the cylinder head) and inspect for poor pin fits or loose connection.
Is the Oil Control Valve connection loose or have poor pin fit?




Yes: Repair, then go to step 3.
No: Go to step 3.

3. Perform engine oil pressure inspection using the DataLogger PIDs and document the pressure readings
and RPM on the repair order and warranty claim.
NOTE:




*It is critical to keep RPM within the specified range when measuring the oil pressure.
Use an external cooling fan or turn on the heater and set the fan speed to high to maintain engine
coolant/oil temperature.

Oil pressure (reference value)
Lo: 135-165 kPa {1.38-1.68 kgf/cm2, 19.6-23.9 psi} [1,500 - 1,600 rpm]*
Hi: 225-275 kPa {2.30-2.80 kgf/cm2, 32.7-39.8 psi} [4,500 - 4,600 rpm]*
Oil temperature: 80-90 °C {176-194 °F}, Coolant temperature: 80-90 °C {176-194 °F}

M-MDS DATALOGGER PIDs
• EOP: Engine oil pressure [kPa, Bar, psi]
• RPM: Engine Speed [rpm]
• ECT: Engine Coolant temperature [°C, °F]
• OIL_TEMP: Engine Oil temperature [°C, °F]

Is the oil pressure within specification?




Yes: Replace engine oil and filter (if not done on step 1), then test drive the vehicle and see if DTC
returns. If DTCs return, go to step 4.
No: Go to step 4.

4. Document all work performed including oil pressure readings and RPM, then contact Hotline for
assistance.
