CONDITION SUMMARY:

SITUATION:
An issue has been identified on certain Land Rover vehicles within the listed Affected
Vehicle Range where water ingress into the passenger compartment or wind noise
may be evident.
ACTION:
Retailers are required to HOLD affected new vehicles that are within your control and
refrain from releasing the vehicles for new vehicle sale pending completion of the
Workshop Procedure detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have
this performed as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process but must have it
completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer.
Affected vehicles already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next
available opportunity.

NOTE:
Use the Jaguar Land Rover claims submission system to make sure that a vehicle
is affected by this program prior to undertaking any rework action.
At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, make sure that all open Recall
and Service Actions are identified to make sure the correct parts are available and
adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting the Program Code 'N221', Option Code
'X', and all the relevant SRO and parts information. The Option Code(s) that allows for
the drive in/drive out allowance may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into
the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.
Repair procedures are under constant review and therefore times / prices are subject
to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Use TOPIx to obtain
the latest repair time.
This program is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to
the July 31, 2020, closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar
days of completion of the repair.

Remove both front interior A-pillar trims (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section
501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation - Installation and Removal - A-Pillar
Trim Panel).

Discovery - Remove both front exterior A-pillar trims (see TOPIx Workshop
Manual section 501-11: Glass, Frame and Mechanisms - Installation and
Removal - Windshield Molding).

NOTES:
◾ Make sure that the center part of the clip is fully removed from the
outer part of the clip. It is not possible to prevent the center part of
the clip falling into the body of the vehicle.
◾ Discard the retaining clips.

Range Rover Evoque - Remove both front exterior A-pillar trims.

NOTE:
This step requires another technician.

From inside the vehicle, apply gentle pressure by hand around the edge of
the windshield while another technician inspects the windshield from the
outside.
◦

If a gap between the windshield and the vehicle body is not
evident, go to 'INSPECTION INSTRUCTION 2'.

◦

If a gap between the windshield and the vehicle body is
evident, as shown in the video, renew the windshield (see
TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-11: Removal and
Installation - Windshield).

INSPECTION INSTRUCTION 2:

1.

NOTES:
◾ This step requires another technician.
◾ Never aim a jet of water directly at a door weather strip or rubber
seals.

Complete a water test on the outside of the windshield with another
technician inside the vehicle.
◦

Start in the lower section and spray the whole area, working
left to right in stages.

◦

From inside the vehicle, apply gentle pressure by hand around
the edge of the windshield.

2.

From inside the vehicle, inspect around the edge of the windshield for water
ingress.
◦

If water ingress is not evident, go to 'INSPECTION
INSTRUCTION 3'.

◦

If water ingress is evident, renew the windshield (see TOPIx
Workshop Manual section 501-11: Removal and Installation Windshield).

INSPECTION INSTRUCTION 3:

Apply soapy water around the edge of the windshield as shown.

CAUTION:
Take extra care when using the air blower with compressed air.



Using an air blower, blow compressed air around the inside edge of the
windshield as shown.
◦

While continuing to blow air around the inside edge of the
windshield, apply gentle pressure by hand around the inside
edge of the windshield.

NOTE:
This step requires another technician.
From outside the vehicle, inspect the around edge of the windshield while
continuing to blow compressed air from inside the vehicle.
◦

If bubbles cannot be seen forming in the soapy water, go to
step 4.

◦

If bubbles can be seen forming in the soapy water, renew the
windshield (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 501-11:
Removal and Installation - Windshield).

4.

Install both front interior A-pillar trims (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section
501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation - Installation and Removal - A-Pillar
Trim Panel).

5.

Install both front exterior A-pillar trims (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section
501-11: Glass, Frame and Mechanisms - Installation and Removal - Windshield
Molding).

6.

Release the vehicle.
