Proper jump starting voltage will eliminate high voltage related issues and equipment damage.
Resolution
Information Only
Ensure appropriate care and voltage are utilized when jump starting a vehicle.
Procedure
WARNING
When using a battery charger or booster to jump start a vehicle, verify that the charger or
booster is set to the same voltage as the vehicle electrical system and batteries. For example, if
the vehicle uses a 12-volt electrical system, the charger or booster voltage must be set no higher
than 12 volts. Using inappropriate voltage to jump start a vehicle may cause explosion or fire.
Failure to comply with this warning may result in equipment or property damage, personal injury,
or death.
Before jump starting a vehicle, review all steps, notes, cautions and warnings regarding jump starts listed in the
Emergency Section of the vehicle Operator’s Manual.
Ensure that the battery disconnect switch is in the connected position and all battery cables are securely and properly
connected to the batteries before attempting to jump start a vehicle.
