Procedure
1. Position the bus in a location so that it can be lifted for work underneath the bus. The bus will
not be lifted during the initial parts of the procedure but will be lifted later.
2. Complete the Proterra approved Lockout/Tagout procedure to make the bus safe for work.
3. Working on the Streetside Rear of the bus, open the curbside hatch and open the three air
valves shown in the following photograph to drain the air tanks.
4. Working in the rear interior area of the bus, locate the access panels in the rear deck area.
5. Using a T-30 Torx Driver, remove any panels necessary to access the rear deck area shown
below. The Low voltage fuse tray and rear air line bundle pass through will need to be
accessible.

6. Using a White or Silver Permeant Marker and the following illustration as a guide, mark the
location for drilling to install the Air Pressure Sensor (000303).
7. Using a Power Drill with a 1/8-Inch Drill Bit, drill a pilot hole in the marked location.
8. Using a Power Drill with a 15mm Drill Bit, enlarge the hole to its final size.
9. Using the following illustrations as a guide, install the Pressure Sensor (000303) and Bulkhead
Fitting (039255) on the rear deck. Apply Loctite 567 to the NPT threads on the Sensor. Use
Loctite 242 where shown by the red arrow to secure the Bulkhead Fitting.
10. Insert one end of 1/4-Inch Black Tubing into the bottom of the Bulkhead Fitting
(039255) as shown above. Route the free end of the Tubing toward the Streetside air
pass through on the bus.

11. Using four Approved Wheel Lifts and four Approved Jack Stands, safely raise and support the
bus for working underneath it. At least 8 points of support are required.
12. Once the bus has been lifted and safely supported with Jack Stands, access the bottom of the
bus to locate the Parking Brake Air Line. This will always be a 3/8-Inch Brown line. This line
will run from the rear air pass-through plate to the SR-7 Brake valve shown in the following
illustrations.

13. Once the Parking Brake Line has been found on the underside of the bus, locate this
line on the pass-through plate on the interior of the bus.
14. Working inside the bus at the rear pass-through plate, disconnect the Parking Brake
Line from the pass-through plate.
15. Insert the Run Through Tee (039257) into the pass-through plate where the Parking
Brake Line was removed. Connect the free end of the Black 1/4-Inch Air Tubing
(000632) to the open port on the Tee as shown in the following illustration.
Note: The Black Tubing may be cut to length for ease of installation.
16. Secure the Black Tubing (000632) to the harness as shown below using Wire Ties and
Spacers as shown below.

17. Working underneath the bus, locate the original Air Pressure Sensor in the general
area shown circled in red below.
18. Using a 3/4-Inch Combination Wrench, remove the Original Air Pressure Sensor
shown below.

19. Apply a small amount of Loctite 567 to the threads of the 1/4-Inch Pipe Plug (003777).
20. Install the 1/4-Inch Pipe Plug (003777) into the fitting where the Original Air Pressure
Sensor was installed until it is finger tight.

21. Using a 3/4-Inch Combination Wrench and a 9/16-Inch Combination Wrench, tighten the plug
until it is 1.5 to 3 turns past finger tight.
22. Locate the connector labeled PM002 shown in the following illustration.
23. Using a Deutsch Connector Tool, remove the white wire and pin from Cavity 23 of
PM002.
24. Using a Deutsch Connector Tool, remove the black wire and pin from Cavity 24 of
PM002.
25. Install a Sealing Plug (015112) into Cavity 23 and Cavity 24 of PM002.
26. Insert the pin with the white wire into Cavity 1 of connector PM023 on Harness
(051730).
27. Insert the pin with the black wire into Cavity 2 of connector PM023 on Harness
(051730).
28. Route the free end of Harness (051730) with the Prodrive harness to PM023 shown in
the previous illustration.
29. Secure the Harness (015730) using Cable Ties (020657) every 300mm.
30. Using an 8mm Ratchet/Socket, disconnect Connector PM023 at the rear deck
bulkhead.
31. Insert the pin with the white wire into Cavity 1 of PM023 on Harness (051730).
32. Remove the Sealing Plugs from Cavity 30 and Cavity 36 from connector PM023.

33. Insert the white wire labeled 30PM023 from Harness (015730) into Cavity 30 of
PM023.
34. Insert the black wire labeled 36PM023 from Harness (015730) into Cavity 36 of
PM023.
35. Working inside the bus, connect the Rear Deck Harness (051729) to the Air Pressure
Sensor (000303) using a Flat Blade Screwdriver. Connect the Black wire to Terminal 1
(Silver Tab) and the White wire to Terminal 2 (Brownish Tab).
36. Route the free end of the Rear Deck Harness (015730) along with the original rear
deck wiring to Connector JM023 as shown in the following illustration.
37. Remove Connector labeled JM023 from the rear deck.
38. Remove the Sealing Plugs from Cavity 30 and Cavity 36 of Connector JM023.
39. Insert the pin on the white wire labeled 30JM023 into Cavity 30 of JM023.
40. Insert the pin on the black wire labeled 36JM023 into Cavity 36 of JM023.
41. Secure the Rear Deck Harness (015730) to the rear deck wiring using Cable Ties
(020657) every 300mm.
42. Reinstall Connector JM023 on the inside of the rear deck.
43. Working underneath the bus and using an 8mm Ratchet/Socket, reinstall connector
PM023.
44. Using a Calibrated Torque Wrench with an 8mm Socket, torque the fastener to 31inch pounds.

45. Inspect the wiring underneath the bus. Use additional Cable Ties as necessary to
ensure that all wiring is neat and secure.
46. Remove the Jack Stands and lower the bus.
47. Working inside the bus, replace all panels and other components that were removed.
48. Remove the Lockout/Tagout devices and power on the bus.
49. Listen for air leaks and repair any that are found.
50. Test the bus for proper operation before returning it to service.
