Description
PACCAR MX-13 and MX-11 Oil Change Intervals

Introduction
Customers may only be using mileage and not accounting for engine hours, time and other important factors when they
determine the appropriate engine oil change interval for their particular case

Situation
To provide the best protection for PACCAR MX series engines, customers must ensure they take into account, not just mileage when
they determine their oil change intervals, but also:

Engine hours
Time
Fuel consumption
Gross Vehicle Weight
Application
Whether or not they use B6-B20 biodiesel fuel
The following information is taken directly from the current revision of the PACCAR MX-11 (Y53-1167-1H1) and MX-13 (Y53-11811L1) Engine Operator’s Manuals. Always refer to the latest revision of the Engine Operator Manual posted on ePortal/ServiceNet.
Engine Lubricating Oil Recommendations and Specifications
A major factor in maintaining engine performance and durability is the proper use of quality engine lubricating oils used in conjunction
with the appropriate oil drain and filter change intervals. Attempting to extend the oil and filter change interval beyond the
manufacturer’s recommendations may decrease engine life due to factors such as corrosion, deposits, and wear.

The primary PACCAR recommendation is for the use of 10W-30 multi grade lubricating oil for normal operation at ambient
temperatures above 5°F (-15°C). Using a multi grade oil helps improve engine cranking in low-temperature conditions, reduces deposit

formation, and increases engine durability and fuel economy.

Initial factory oil fill: API CK-4 10W-30.

Oil drain interval recommendations are based on vehicle application or engine duty cycle.
