Condition
The chassis has Engine Overspeed DTCs.

9896 chassis (8690 U.S. and 1206 Canada), T680, T800, T880, W900, W990 MY2018 - 2020 vehicles built from 01/16/2017
through 08/22/2019 equipped with Eaton UltraShift or Fuller Advantage transmissions. See the attached chassis list for specific
chassis.

Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on
the list.
If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review DWWC or SIR for "Complete" next to the
"26032" campaign code prior to performing this repair.
Follow the procedures below to update the transmission calibration.

Warranty
WARRANTY
Through Standard Warranty (excludes Extended Warranty) or for repairs completed by 12/01/2020, whichever is greater,
Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up and labor:
0.5 hours labor to update the transmission calibration software and, if needed, the transmission software (026-412).
Refer to cross reference table in the procedure section for the appropriate quick claim.
0.3 hours labor to confirm transmission software and transmission shift calibration software are both up-to-date and NO
updates are required (026-430).
The Transmission software number MUST be included in the claim.
The Transmission shift calibration number MUST be included in the claim.
File an additional claim for extraordinary circumstances. A quick claim for standard labor must be filed first.
File the claim within 14 days in accordance with Warranty Policy C-A-009.

Background
This software calibration update affects when trucks are going downhill in gear and the engine speed is increasing due to
gravity pulling the truck faster down the hill. As the engine speed increases towards redline, the transmission should be
upshifting to a higher gear; lowering the engine speed and preventing engine overspeeds (2300+ RPM). The new shift
calibrations have improved protective upshift logic so the transmission will upshift sooner when approaching redline.

Confirm the transmission software is at 5569989 or newer.
Refer to the chart below to determine the appropriate new Shift Calibration with Protective Upshift Fix.
