This procedure applies ONLY to vehicles flagged with MIN# 13102. All other vehicles built
during this period have either been repaired prior to shipment or determined to not require this
inspection.

Models Involved:
School Bus Models - AE, BE, CE and RE.

Description:
This MIN applies to School Bus Models - AE, BE, CE and RE built 4 December 2012 to 2
January 2013 and equipped with greased steer axle hubs. This procedure is required ONLY for
vehicles specified above.

Work Instructions
WARNING! Park vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking
brake, and block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving in both
directions. Failure to do so may result in property damage, personal injury, and /
or death.
WARNING! If the vehicle must be raised, do not work under the vehicle supported
only by jacks. Jacks can slip or fall over, potentially resulting in property damage,
personal injury, and / or death.
WARNING! Always wear safe eye protection when performing vehicle
maintenance. Failure to do so may result in serious eye injury.
WARNING! Keep flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while
servicing the vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases. Failure to do so
may result in property damage, personal injury, and / or death.
WARNING! Remove the ground cable from the negative terminal of the battery
box before disconnecting any electrical components. Always connect the ground
cable last. Failure to do so may result in property damage, personal injury, and /
or death.
1. Park vehicle on hard flat surface.
2. Shift the transmission to park / neutral and set the parking brake.
3. Block the wheels.
4. Place steer axle on jack stands.
5. Remove grease hub cab bolts and cap.

6. Remove cotter pin (Figure 1, Item 2), spindle lock nut (1), spindle nut, washer (3) and outer
wheel bearing.

7. Use a flashlight to inspect for proper grease around axle spindle (Figure 2, Item 1), bearings
and center hub cavity. Cavity around spindle should be filled with grease.
 If both hubs are full of grease, proceed to Step 9.
 If both hubs are not full of grease, proceed to Step 8.
8. Open iKNow case file to document condition and await further instructions.
9. Reassemble hub, according to procedures found in Service Manual.
10. Adjust wheel bearings.
11. Install spindle lock nut and new cotter key.
12. Reinstall grease hub cap and bolts. Torque bolts according to Service Manual.
13. Remove front axle from jack stands.
14. Remove wheel blocks.

WARRANTY CLAIMS
ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE
Expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the normal manner, making
reference to MIN-13102.
It is important that the coding be completed properly to assist in processing the warranty claim. Complete
instructions will be found in the Warranty Policy Manual, Section 7.1.8.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in "Other Charges" tab. The cost
of any bulk items (such as bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire, barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be
prorated for the cost of the individual pieces / amount used during each repair.
To ensure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for MIN 13102 activity must
be submitted by 28 February 2014 or within the normal warranty period for the vehicle, if after 28
February 2014.
