2012 – 2019MY Isuzu N-Series Vehicles Built Prior to 1/30/2019 and
Equipped with 6.0L Gasoline Engines
CONDITION

Some customers whose vehicles are operated in dusty type environments, such as
farming, sweeping, or off-road type applications, may comment about the illumination of
the check engine light, with one or more of the following DTC’s set: P0449 (Evaporative
Emission Vent Solenoid Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage), P0446 (Evaporative
Emission Vent System Performance) and P0455 (Evaporative Emission System Large
Leak Detected). Dirt and dust intrusion into the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve may
cause this condition. If normal diagnostics for any of the above DTCs determines the
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid valve has failed, replace the
existing EVAP canister vent solenoid valve (the “Valve”) with a new assembly. Then
cover the valve and relocate it with updated parts using the service procedure in this
bulletin. (See Figure 1.)

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the Chassis Harness connector from the Valve by pushing lightly
downward on the red lock tab with a small screwdriver (see Figure 2) and then
pushing the release tab to remove the connector.

2. Disconnect the Canister Air Hose from the Canister Assembly and the Valve.
(See Figure 3.) Discard the hose.

3. Remove the Valve from the Canister bracket. (See Figure 4.) Discard the Valve.

4. Remove the Clip that holds the Chassis Harness to the Frame Rail. (See Figure
5.) Discard the Clip.

5. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Vapor Pipe from the EVAP Canister. (See Figure 6.)

6. Disconnect the Purge Hose at the EVAP Canister. (See Figure 7.)

7. Remove the EVAP Canister by unscrewing the two (2) EVAP Canister mounting
bolts and one (1) nut. (See Figure 8.) Carefully set the EVAP Canister and
hardware aside in a safe place for reinstallation later. (See Figure 9.)

8. Install the new Valve bracket using the nut on the cross member as indicated in
Figures 10 and 11. Tighten the nut to 22 N·m (16 lb·ft).

9. Install the new EVAP Hose Bracket using the nut for the cross member as
indicated in Figures 12 and 13. Tighten the nut to 22 N·m (16 lb·ft).

10. Reinstall the EVAP Canister using the previously removed hardware. (See
Figure 14.) Tighten the two (2) bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb·ft) and the nut to 37 N·m
(27 lb·ft).

11. Route the Chassis Harness Valve connector to the rear of the cross member and
connect it to the new Valve. Place the new Valve into the Cover as shown in
Figures 15 and 16. Note that the Valve Bracket attachment point and the
Canister Air Hose Port will stick out of the cover.

12. Using the attachment point on the Valve, mount the Valve and Cover assembly
to the new Bracket as shown in Figures 17 and 18.

13. Route the new Canister Air Hose from the Valve Port to the Canister Port as
shown in Figure 19.

14. Attach the new Air Hose Clip to the Bracket and Air Hose as shown in Figures
20 and 21.

15. Coil the excess Chassis Harness into a loop as shown in Figure 22. Secure the
loop of Harness to the cross member with the new Wiring Harness Strap as
shown in Figures 22 and 23.

16. Reconnect the Fuel Tank Vapor Pipe and Purge Hose to the Canister Assembly.
(See Figure 24.)

17. Ensure all Evaporative Emission-related DTC’s are cleared before returning the
vehicle to the customer.
