This bulletin has been revised to include important information regarding the
pre-shipment of parts to dealers. Please discard all copies of bulletin
N192266090-01.
Important: An initial supply of 13434668 required to complete this recall was
scheduled to begin pre-shipping on Friday, August 30th to all impacted dealers of
record for 100% of impacted VINs in the US. During pre-shipment, we
experienced complications that did not allow us to successfully pre-ship to all
dealers with a Saturday, August 31st delivery as planned. As a result,
approximately 1000 impacted dealers will receive shipments on Saturday, August
31st, the balance of US dealer orders are planned to ship with a Tuesday,
September 3rd delivery. Specific dealer shipping information was not available at
the time of the publication of this message. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please refer to your Answerback for further confirmation.
All orders placed during this pre-shipment will be cancelled. Dealers will need to
file a freight claim for any pre-shipped parts. Additional parts, if required, are to
be obtained from GMCCA, when ordering opens. Order parts on a CSO =
Customer Special Order only. DRO’s may be cancelled. All orders may be
reviewed prior to being filled. Parts may have quantity limiters in effect.
Note: To avoid the potential for a Dealer to receive more parts then needed,
orders received prior to the pre-ship that were written to Plant 76 (Lansing) were
cancelled where possible prior to shipment. Please refer to your Answerback for
confirmation.

This service update should be performed on vehicles in dealer inventory only. Involved vehicles are marked “open” on
the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. This site should always be checked
to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs.
Condition

Correction

On certain 2019 model year Chevrolet Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain vehicles, the charge air cooler
outlet may become disconnected from the throttle body. A malfunction indicator light (MIL) will set on
the instrument panel and a reduced engine power message will illuminate followed by reduced engine
power. One or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes may be present: P0172, P0299, P0101,
P1101, P0506. The vehicle may also run rough and could stall at low speed or idle conditions.
Dealers are to install a charge air cooler retainer kit.

Important: An initial supply of 13434668 required to complete this recall was scheduled to begin pre-shipping on
Friday, August 30th to all impacted dealers of record for 100% of impacted VINs in the US and a minimum of 25% of all
impacted VINs in Canada. During pre-shipment, we experienced complications that did not allow us to successfully preship to all dealers with a Saturday, August 31st delivery as planned.
As a result, approximately 1000 impacted dealers will receive shipments on Saturday, August 31st, the balance of US
dealer orders are planned to ship with a Tuesday, September 3rd delivery. Canadian orders that have not previously
shipped are planned to ship OVN no later than Tuesday, September 3rd. Please refer to your Answerback for further
confirmation.

Service Procedure
1.

Disconnect the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Tube from the throttle body. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube
Replacement in SI. It is not necessary to remove the entire Charge Air Cooler Outlet Tube for this procedure, only to
disconnect it from the throttle body.

2.

Cover the throttle body with a shop towel to prevent debris from entering the engine.

Remove the charge air cooler outlet air tube retainer clip.

While pulling back on the spring, lift the leg of the spring over the notch, removing the spring/clips from the notch they
sit in in the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Tube. Discard the spring and clips that were removed.

Check the inside of the Charge Air Cooler Outlet Tube for the presence of the rubber seal that seals to the throttle
body. If the rubber seal is missing, replace the seal.

Place black clip with the groove facing up on a flat, hard surface.

Place the spring (legs pointing up) into the groove of the clip as shown.

8.

Press down with two fingers until you feel the spring snap into place in the clip.

9.

Repeat on the other side of the spring with the second clip.

10. Insert the spring/clip assembly straight into the duct with the legs of the spring pointing down towards the elbow and
the clips facing up towards the throttle body connection.
•

The spring will catch on the notches on the sides of the part as shown in the graphic.

11. Pull the spring apart just enough to lift the leg over the notch of the duct for each side.

12. Verify the spring and clips are present and oriented correctly, as shown.
13. Remove shop towel from throttle body and install the tube. There should be an audible click when it is seated. Refer
to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement in SI if required.
Dealer Responsibility
Dealers must take the steps necessary to ensure that the service update correction has been made to all involved vehicles
in dealer inventory before selling or dealer-trading the vehicle, but no later than September 30, 2020.
All new, used, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc. in dealers' possession
and subject to this bulletin must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this bulletin before customers

take possession of these vehicles. Involved vehicles must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer-traded,
released to auction, used for demonstration, or any other purpose.
All GM Certified Used vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the Certified Pre-Owned Inventory System
(CPOIS) will be de-certified and must be held and remedied per the service procedure in this bulletin. Upon submitting
an accepted/paid warranty transaction in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system, the vehicle can be re-certified
for sale within the CPOIS system, or once again be used in the CTP program.
