SITUATION
The malfunction indicator lamp light is on (MIL) with the following fault code stored in the DME:

CAUSE
The chemical composition of the fan shroud contaminates the EAC sensor.

CORRECTION
Replace the radiator with EAC sensor and, if necessary, replace the fan shroud.

PROCEDURE
In conjunction with replacing the radiator, check
the part number of the fan shroud (1).
The fan shroud which can contaminate the EAC
sensor is PN 17 42 7 637 189.
Replace the PN 17 42 7 637 189 fan shroud with
PN 17 42 8 742 712 when replacing the radiator.

For the B46M PZEV (SULEV) engine vehicles, the limited emission warranty is 15 Years/150,000 miles in
CA and the other CARB states except for the states of DE, OR, PA and WA where the limited emission
warranty is 7 years/70,000 miles.
