Campaign Bulletin: This campaign bulletin addresses a known non-safety-related condition and provides recommended technical
diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to all vehicles in the affected VIN list.

Condition
For some Model X vehicles, the rear door pinch sensor carrier has a gap hiding seal that applies force to the rear door
exterior jamb, which might cause paint issues.

Correction
Remove the gap hiding seals to reduce the force on both rear doors.

Procedure
1. Partially open the LH rear door to a comfortable working height.
2. Remove the clips (x7) that attach the LH pinch sensor carrier to the trailing edge of the LH rear door (Figure 1),
and allow the carrier to gently hang (Figure 2).

3. Remove the gap hiding seal from the lower section of the LH pinch sensor carrier (Figure 3).

4. Remove the double-sided tape from the upper section of the LH pinch sensor carrier (Figure 4).

5. Use a clean shop towel and isopropyl alcohol to clean the adhesive residue and debris from the pinch sensor
carrier (Figure 5), and allow the carrier to completely dry.

6. Cut a strip of acrylic foam tape to a length of 145 mm (Figure 6).

7. Wipe adhesive promoter onto the upper section of the pinch sensor carrier where the acrylic foam tape is to be
applied, and allow at least one minute for the promoter to dry.

8. Apply the acrylic foam tape to the pinch sensor carrier at the approximate position shown in Figure 7.

9. Remove the red backing from the acrylic foam tape, install the LH pinch sensor carrier to the trailing edge of the
LH rear door, and then install the clips (x7) that attach the carrier to the door (Figure 8).

10. Check the LH rear door to LH quarter panel flush, and adjust the lower bump stop as necessary.
NOTE: Refer to TN-16-11-002, 7A through 7D for instructions to adjust the bump stop.
11. Repeat steps 1 through 10 on the RH side of the vehicle.
