Jayco has determined that certain Model Year 2019 Northpoint and Pinnacle fifth wheels require
a service appointment to confirm compatibility of the bath vent fan and wall switch. The fan
circuit board will be replaced when inspection finds the fan will not restart using the wall switch.
Our records indicate that your fifth wheel is affected by this Service Bulletin. Please
contact your nearest Jayco dealer to schedule an appointment and present this letter as
authorization to have the procedure completed at no cost to you.

INSPECTION
1. Turn the wall switch for the bathroom vent fan ON.

 If this is the first time the vent fan has been

operated since the trailer has been connected to 12volt power, the vent fan will NOT operate.
 This is a normal condition and is expected.

2. Turn ON the vent fan from the touch pad switch located on

the fan body.
3. The vent fan should start and operate normally with both

switches (steps #1 & #2) turned ON.

4. Turn the fan OFF at the wall switch and wait for the blades
to completely stop turning.
5. Turn the wall switch back ON.
 The fan is operating correctly if it starts and runs for a minimum test time of 30 seconds.
6. If the vent fan fails to re-start, or if it re-starts and then stops operating within the first 30 seconds
of being turned back ON, the fan control circuit board must be replaced.

INSTRUCTIONS TO REPLACE FAN CIRCUIT BOARD
Turn the wall switch OFF to disconnect power from the fan before starting the repair.

Remove the plastic garnish surrounding the fan.
Remove 4 screws one in each corner.

Garnish is removed from fan.
Turn the 4 screen retainer knobs (180°) and remove the screen from the Fan Lower Housing.

Cut the Scotchlok connector off of the two white wires.
Cut the Scotchlok connector off of the two purple wires with a black wire. (cut all 3 wires)
Disconnect the 2 way electrical connector joining the fan motor and circuit board wires.

If the yellow wires are attached to the MOTOR side electrical connector as shown here in Fig 5, the yellow
wire connections are not modified during this process.
If the yellow wires are attached to the Circuit Board side electrical connector, then the two yellow wires will
need to be cut off at the Scotchlok connectors.
The yellow wires (if cut) will be re-attached at a later point in these instructions.

 Remove the 4 screws (circled) from the Fan Lower Housing.
 Remove the single screw from the black knob and pull the knob straight up.
 Use caution as you remove the knob, as the knob support tube under the knob will be free to fall out.
NOTE: The replacement (working) circuit board wires up exactly like the original (non-working). Use the
original circuit board wiring as your template. Place unique identification marks on the original (nonworking) circuit board prior to removal to prevent inadvertent re-installation of the defective part. A marker,
a piece of tape, a scratch in the board, etc. can be used to mark the board.

Turn the Fan Lower Housing over after you remove it and you will locate the circuit board in one corner.
Note which way the wires exit the circuit board as the new board needs to be placed in exactly the same
orientation.

Remove the 2 screws and the plastic insulators from the circuit board. (Keep them for re-install)
This circuit board will no longer be used.
Mark the circuit board as described previously and dispose of it properly.

 The replacement circuit board has more components on it than the original.
 Install the new circuit board re-using the screws and insulated washers.
 Route the circuit board wires through the Fan Lower Housing in the original manner.

 Install the knob support tube back under the knob location.
 Re-install the knob and the single screw.
 Install the Fan Lower Housing using the 4 screws removed previously

 Rotate the retainer knobs to hold the screen in place.

 Connect the long white wire exiting the new circuit board to the white 14 gauge wire separated in Fig 3
previously. Strip the wires 3/8 inch and twist the conductors together prior to connecting with a Bell cap
connector.
 Connect the long black wire exiting the new circuit board to the purple 14 gauge wires separated in Fig 3
previously. Strip the wires 3/8 inch and twist the conductors together prior to connecting with a Bell cap
connector.
FIG 16:
 If the yellow wires in Fig 5 were attached to the motor side of the 2-way electrical connector, the electrical
portion of this repair is finished. (Move on to TEST THE FAN)
 If the yellow wires in Fig 5 were attached to the circuit board side of the 2-way electrical connector, the
following additional operation must be performed.
 Locate the black wire running from the fan motor to the 2-way electrical connector (reference Fig 8). Cut
this black wire near the middle and strip both wire ends 3/8 inch.
 Strip both ends of the yellow wires 3/8 inch.
 Twist the conductors of one yellow wire and one black wire together and connect with a Bell cap
connector. Twist the conductors of the remaining yellow wire and the remaining black wire together and
connect with a Bell cap connector. Reference Fig 16 for photo of the completed connections.
 Re-install the plastic garnish around the fan using the 4 original screws.
TEST THE FAN:
1. Turn the wall switch for the bathroom vent fan ON.
2. Turn ON the vent fan from the touch pad switch located on the fan body.
3. The vent fan should start and operate normally with both switches (steps #1 & #2) turned ON.
4. Turn the fan OFF at the wall switch and wait for the blades to completely stop turning.
5. Turn the wall switch back ON. The fan is operating correctly if it starts and runs for a minimum test time of
30 seconds.
6. Verify the bathroom ceiling lights function properly after completing the repair.
