MODEL
I15 (I8 Roadster)
Produced up to 8/2018

SITUATION
With the front window(s) lowered, there is a rattle present when closing the door.

CAUSE
The window guide allows for excessive vibration with the window lowered.

CORRECTION
Install an updated window guide on the affected door. Updated window guides can be identified by flocking
material on the guide, whereas older style guides are made completely of rubber.

PROCEDURE
Install updated window guide(s) in the affected door. Refer to the attachment below:

If the procedure outlined in the attachment is not effective at repairing the noise, submit a PuMA case
for additional assistance.

B51 35 18 Window guide attachment
1. For the affected
door(s), completely
lower the front
window(s).
Remove the
window cavity
strip(s) following
repair instructions
51 21 300
“Removing and
installing or
replacing window
cavity cover strip
on outside of left
or right front
door”.
2. Disconnect the
rubber tabs shown
to the left from the
corner of the door
and set the seal
aside.

3. Remove the 3
screws shown to
the left in order of
1-2-3.

4. Locate the
installed window
guide in the area
shown to the left.

Note: The window
guide is mounted between
the inner panel and outer
door skin.

5. Using a suitable
plastic wedge,
carefully separate
the inner panel
from the door skin
as shown to the
left to gain access
to remove and
install the window
guide.

6. Carefully remove
the installed
window guide by
unclipping the
guide tabs from the
door and removing
upwards.

7. Install the new
window guide by
pressing the tabs
firmly onto the door
skin. Ensure that
an audible
snapping is heard
during installation.

Note: The
replacement window
guides are side specific
and are marked RH (right)
or LH (left) in the area
shown to the left.
8. Remove the plastic
wedge and
reinstall the 3
screws removed
during step 3 in the
order of 1-2-3.
(Opposite of
removal, as
shown to the left).
Torque the screws
to 9.5nm.
9. Completely
reassemble the
vehicle.
