PAINT ON THE B-PILLAR IS SCRATCHED/DAMAGED
MODEL
G14 (8 Series Convertible)

G15 (8 series)

SITUATION
The paint finish of the door jamb (above the door striker) is scratched due to the inner door cavity window seal.

CAUSE
The door window cavity seal rubber is abrasive and may scuff the door jamb area when opening and closing
door.

CORRECTION
If necessary, polish or refinish the paint on the affected area of the door jamb. Afterwards, install protective film.

PROCEDURE
1. Repair the damaged paint in the affected area if needed.
2. Print the template for the vehicle series to be protected from the corresponding attached file (Template for
G15/G14).
Note: After printing the template attachment, verify the size of the 100mm benchmark line on the print.
Rescale and reprint if necessary. The size of the template is correct when the benchmark line is exactly
100mm.
3. Trace the template onto protective film PN 51 77 7 404 141. Carefully cut out the traced design from the
protective film.
4. Clean the door jamb area using Cleaner R2 PN 83 19 0 417 324 or isopropyl alcohol.
5. Remove the adhesive backing from the protective film and install in the area shown below on both front
doors. The outer edge of the protective film should line up with the out edge of the door jamb exactly as shown.
Note: For clarity, the installation location is shown using the paper template. During repair, the clear
protective film will be applied.

Invoice the corresponding and eligible paint repair work in sublet on the repair order at the actual cost charged
(up to $250.00) with no handling or markup. The sublet must also include any discounts or allowances.
Appropriate charges are determined by comparing them to the corresponding warranty rates. Prior to
performing the repair, calculate your dealer’s repair cost and then obtain outside repair estimate(s) as required
for price comparison purposes.

It is your center’s responsibility to review the repair cost estimate prior to the repair being performed.
This will help ensure that the amount requested for the refinish/paint work is customary, fair and
reasonable. Also, it must not exceed the scope of the repair work that is described in this bulletin.
On the repair order and in claim comment section, explain and itemize the corresponding sublet amount.
