built between serial number 1009DM2696 (October 2009) and 0617DM6765 (June
2017).
Refer to SIL 690 for items covered under the warranty policy. Altec will supply necessary parts to correct
this condition.
In order to determine if your unit is affected by SIL 690, compare the serial number of your unit with the list
of affected units as described on the SIL. The product improvement can be performed by the customer or
you may contact Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) for further assistance.
At any time, you may contact Altec at 1-877 GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) with your unit’s serial
number to determine if there are any other outstanding notices.
If you have sold or retired the unit please call Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) so the
records may be changed.

Capacity Information Improvement
Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout the useful life of the machine.
Altec offered capacity options on some AM60E units that later were found to cause limited
functions in certain boom positions. This can allow the operator to lift loads within the stated
capacity specifications but, due to a lack of unit performance, can not be returned from all boom
positions. Specifically this may result in the upper boom being unable to raise from an
overcenter position due to hydraulic limitations. Note that the unit meets all stability
requirements of the ANSI A92.2 standard with the original rated capacities.
Altec is providing customers with affected units the necessary parts in kits to be able to
accurately state the capacity for the unit. On a separate sheet attached to this SIL, each
customer is receiving a list of the units which they own by the serial number of the unit. Each
serial number has an improvement kit part number that is the part number the customer should
order to update the specific unit. Call 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) to order the kit.
Make sure the kit ordered is the one that is specified for the particular serial number and that
the kit is installed on the correct unit. The kit should be installed no later than 90 days after
receiving this SIL.
This improvement is covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec,
the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider. Altec will perform the improvement for free
at an Altec facility. If the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider performs the
improvement, a warranty claim must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/
or labor. Altec will allow up to $90 for the labor to perform this improvement. Call 1-877-GO
ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) to schedule the work to be done by an Altec service technician.
Customers may be responsible for the travel costs of an Altec Mobile Service technician if the
technician performs the improvement at the owner’s location.
