Issue:
A customer may express a concern that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is illuminated, no other
symptoms are noted, for example there is no restricted performance/lack of engine power. A technician
will find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0089-64 stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
P0089-64 – Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance – Signal Plausibility Failure
If any other DTCs are stored in the PCM they must be investigated and rectified prior to carrying out the
instruction detailed in this SSM.
NOTE – the concern detailed in this SSM is applicable to Discovery 4 vehicles equipped with the
V6 petrol engine 2015 and 2016 Model Year with either EU5 or ULEV 2 Emission.
Affected Vehicle VIN Range
724446 to 847658 – LA Discovery
Cause:
Software update required.
Action:
Check the vehicle is within the VIN range stated above.
Check the DTCs stored in the PCM.
If ONLY DTC P0089-64 is stored in the PCM please update the PCM using the manual patch process
detailed below.
If other DTCs are present continue diagnoses as normal using TOPIx where necessary.

WARNING: DO NOT Restart the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment until the manual patch has
been used as the manual patch is removed on restart of the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment.

1. Restart the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment.
2. Select the ‘Manual Patch’ Icon on the Application Launcher screen. Make sure that both Symptom
Driven Diagnostics (SDD) and PATHFINDER are closed before opening the Manual Patch
downloader.

3. A pop-up will be displayed for Manual Patch downloader.
4. Enter ‘MP_JLR_L0087’ in the Patch Name field.
5. Select ‘Start’
6. The Manual Patch downloader will then download the manual patch.
7. When the patch download has completed, a message will be displayed, asking the user to confirm
that the application can run the manual patch. Select ‘Yes’.
8. When complete, the following message will be displayed, ‘Successfully downloaded and started
manual patch. Please make sure that the patch has installed successfully.’ NOTE: This message will
end after 10 seconds.
9. Start a new diagnostic session.
10. Complete the required ‘Configure Existing PCM’ application.
11. Close the session.
12. Restart the JLR Approved Diagnostic Equipment.

This Manual Patch will remain in place until the revised software is available via a SDD Patch
which will be communication via a Technical Bulletin.
