Front Windshield Wiper Noises
This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI M61 01 16 dated August 2016.

SITUATION
Customer complains wipers are noisy or chattering during wiper operation.

CAUSE
Wiper arms out of adjustment and/or windshield cowl misaligned.

CORRECTION

Adjustment of the wiper arms

Replace windshield trim cover (cowl panel). Applies to all vehicles except the F54.

PROCEDURE
Clean windshield and wiper blades with suitable cleaner and check wiper arm adjustment as
follows.

1. Use repair instruction 61 61 010 to align wiper
arms.

2. If out of adjustment, use tools shown to align
wiper arm.

3. If necessary remove seal (1), adjust wiper cowl
as per repair instruction 51 13 124.
4. Pay special attention to wiper motor shaft
interference with wiper cowl.
