Service Action: N63 Replace High-Pressure Fuel Pumps

SITUATION

The high-pressure pump may fail, resulting in an engine malfunction warning and reduced engine output.
AFFECTED VEHICLES

This Service Action involves F01, F02, F04, F07, F10, F12, F13, E70, E71, and E72 vehicles with the
N63 engine produced from January 1, 2011 to December 1, 2011.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in the
"Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.
CAUSE

The high-pressure pump quantity control valve may fail.
PROCEDURE

Replace both high-pressure pumps. Refer to the following Repair Instruction 13 51 065, “Remove and
installing/replacing the left high-pressure pump (N63),” and 13 51 070, “Remove and installing/replacing the
right high-pressure pump (N63).”
Important Note: Below, find the removal and installation of the crankcase ventilation lines (hoses) if the
vehicle has had the procedures described in B11 06 14 and B11 16 14 already performed.

BMW of North America, LLC will provide reimbursement for “qualifying customer-pay repairs” that were
performed on an eligible vehicle prior to the release of the N63 Replace High-Pressure Fuel Pumps Service
Action.
Customer-pay repairs are subject to the applicable vehicle and coverage eligibility requirements, exclusions,
and limitations that apply to the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks.
Repairs performed on ineligible vehicles, vehicles not included in this Service Action and/or the diagnosis
and repair of other unrelated issues do not qualify for reimbursement.
To request reimbursement for a “qualifying customer-pay repair” performed either by an authorized BMW
center or independent repair shop, please have your customer submit a reimbursement request online at
www.BMW-RP.com under the following reference:

Note: Reimbursement requests submitted under an incorrect and/or different reimbursement program
or action will not be accepted.
Reimbursement Procedure
To initiate the online process, the customer will be asked to attach PDF files of the required documentation;
this is outlined in the attachment below.
Alternatively, he/she may mail or fax his/her request and documentation directly to the BMW Customer
Reimbursement Center.
