This is a Technical Journal: * If squealing noise occurs from front brakes on cars built before chassis number 040328, then Replace front discs according to VIDA, the new brake discs have changed metal composition in order to reduce squealing noise. Also replace front brake pads if vehicle is built before 15w19, or after 15w20 if the brake pads are worn down or there has been a previous attempt to grease or chamfer the pads to repair the car.

* If squealing noise occurs from front brakes, then follow the instruction under Service.
* This journal rewritten in its entirety.

SERVICE:
* Replace front discs according to VIDA, if the car have 18” (VDN= RE03) front brake discs and built
before chassis number 040328, the new brake discs have changed metal composition in order to reduce
squealing noise.
Also replace front brake pads: P/N 31499906 US/CA-market.
* For cars built from chassis number 040329- and if the car have 18” brakes (VDN= RE03), replace
front brake pads: P/N 31499906 US/CA-market.
* For cars built before chassis number -135577 and if the car have 19” brakes (VDN= RE04), replace
front brake pads: P/N 31499906 US/CA-market.

Only if the noise occurs on vehicles after 2016 week 40, also attach a sound file in to the report.
