FIELD INSPECTION INSTRUCTIONS
For Kenworth Outboard Sliding Fifth Wheels

NOTICE
Jost International has concluded a possibility exists that a production unit
built containing a prototype component has been shipped to Kenworth Chillicothe.
This single (1) unit has an incorrectly sized slider bracket that is easily detectable
following the procedure on page two.
It is requested that trucks having a fifth wheel with a serial number listed
on page three of this notice be verified prior to use due to quality and potential
functional issues.
For prompt reimbursement, please provide the tractor VIN, build date, 5th
wheel model serial number and the result if the unit passed or failed inspection on
the warranty claim.

Outboard Slider Side-to-Side Clearance Inspection
1. Using a pry-bar, force the topplate
and bracket over to one side

Bracket

2. Place a ruler or tape measure under the
cover to measure the gap between the rack
and bracket. A gap of ½” or more is the unit
in question and is to be replaced.

Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review DWWC or SIR for "Complete" next to the "59001"
campaign code prior to performing this repair.
Follow the procedures below to inspect the Outboard Slider side-to-side clearance and replace the bracket if necessary.

Through Standard Warranty (excludes Extended Warranty) or for repairs completed by 09/01/2019, whichever is greater, Kenworth will
pay for labor:
0.3 hours labor to Inspect. File a long form claim. Reference the Inspection Claim Coding table below. The following
information must be included in the claim:

1.8 hours to inspect and replace parts. File a long form claim. Reference the Repair Claim Coding table below. Kenworth will
pay for parts mark-up ($91.72). The following information must be included in the claim:

Contact JOST International at 800.253.5105 ext. 327 for the replacement parts. Reference this bulletin.

Procedure
18 out of 19 chassis will require no parts, just the use of a tape measure and a pry-bar.
Inspect the gap between the rack and the bracket using the attached procedure.
If the gap is ok, no further action is needed.
If the gap is not ok, the chassis in question has been identified. Order the part as instructed in the Parts section above.
Email KWCustomerservice@PACCAR.com to notify Kenworth that the prototype has been found. Include the following
information in the email:
