Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer
delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the
next time the vehicle is in the shop.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves Model Year 2018 BMW X1 SAV vehicles produced from October 27 – December
11, 2017.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR,
the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION
Vehicles were not assembled with Runflat tires as specified

CORRECTION
Install the correct Runflat tires on vehicle

PROCEDURE
Replace all four tires as per repair instructions RA 36 12 005 Replacing a run-flat technology tire

PARTS RETENTION
The four tires replaced to perform and submit for this Service Action repair are the property of BMW NA.
Your center is responsible for the proper identification, storage and documentation of these tires. The tires must
be held in a secure retention area until notification of claim payment is made by BMW NA through DCSnet.
Upon claim payment, these tires must be destroyed by suitable measures (for example, drilling a large
diameter hole in each tire’s side wall) as to not allow their reuse prior to recycling. It is against BMW
NA’s policy to resell these used tires.

the “quantities used” is at the dealer net price for the plus your center’s handling.
Enter this material cost in sublet and itemize the amount on the repair order and in claim comment section as
follows:
Quantity four of tire PN 36 11 2 420 737 with handling at $#,###.00 (state amount) and wheel weights

This Service Action repair qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) expense reimbursement, claim this
item under the Defect Code noted above as follows:

Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell, lease or deliver
any vehicle covered by this notification until the delivery stop repair has been
performed. This means that centers may not legally deliver new motor vehicles to a
consumer until it is fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a delivery
stop. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of this law.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles
subject to a delivery stop until the repair is completed.
