DESCRIPTION
This issue can happen when one or both of the magnets, that look like metal bars, located inside the air cleaner housing, fall
out.
These magnets trip the stop switches in the motor assembly.

The switches, in the motor assembly, control when it stops and when the indicators illuminate.
As long as the motor is turning, the light, in the cluster, will stay on.
If the motor will turn one direction and reverse direction with the switch, all of the drive circuits are working correctly.
Snow valves, in trucks, with MaxxForce 11/13 engines use the switch as inputs to the Body Controller. The Body Controller
controls relays that determine the direction of rotation. This allows the Body Controller to override the switch, if the engine gets
too hot.
Trucks with any other MaxxForce engines, use the switch, exclusively, to control direction of rotation.
The drive assembly for the MaxxForce 11 and 13 engines is different than the drive for the other engines. It runs in the
opposite direction and has a Red cap on it:

Snow Valve light, in cluster, stays on
Motor runs constantly
RESOLUTION
- If the magnets are missing, replace the Housing.
- If the motor has been running constantly there may be damage, stripped gears, on the housing or the drive assembly.
- It may be necessary to replace one part or both. Insure there is nothing obstructing the movement of the housing and that the
housing is not twisted during installation.
-Be sure that the air cleaner housing is sitting squarely on the bracket. The below picture shows a gap between the
bottom mounting point of the air cleaner housing and the bracket. This little bit is enough to cause issue. If this is the
case, replace the bracket and the housing, ensuring when it goes back together that the assembly sits flush before
operating the snow valve.
