Using a digital or analog gage with a maximum pressure value of 25 psi, check fuel supply pressure and fuel inlet
restriction at idle, Wide Open Throttle (WOT), and under a load.
(NOTE: Measure fuel inlet restriction at the low pressure pump using ZTSE4583 instead of the rock catcher)
Fuel pressure specs. Per the manual
Cranking 2.7 psi
Low Idle 2.7 psi
Full Load Rated speed 6.4 psi
Fuel inlet Restriction Specifications: No Higher Than 8 inches HG
RESOLUTION
Diagnosis:
•
Fuel pressure reads low and restrictions read high. Request Permission to Replace the Fuel Filters (Customer Pay).
- If an improvement is seen try to duplicate 1268/1284 DTC codes. If unable to duplicate no further repairs
necessary
• Fuel pressure and restrictions are in specification and the code can be duplicated then record a snap shot and open
a case file. Make sure ALL above information and readings are entered and await further instruction.

steps listed in the article. They then had me reflash the ECM with a new cal. I believe they reset the fuel tables. The customer's truck is
acting up again, can the fuel tables be reset a 2nd time? Or is it time for a new pump? Rich Michels
