DESCRIPTION
This document will guide the user through diagnosing a complaint of inoperative A/C and provide direction and part numbers for
replacement for vehicles built only between: 11/07/2016­ 06/12/2017
Vehicles may have a cracked low pressure (suction) A/C hose 4090345C91 from Evaporator to Compressor. Cracked hose may
also result in an evaporator failure, leak at the evaporator or front TXV.

DIAGNOSTIC STEP(s)

To prevent property damage, personal injury and/or death, park vehicle on a hard flat
surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install whell chocks to
prevent the vehicle from moving in either direction.

To prevent property damage, personal injury and/or death, if the vehicle must be
raised, do not work under the vehicle supported only by jacks. Jacks can slip of fall
over.

To prevent property damage, personal injury and/or death, always wear eye
protection when performing vehicle maintenance.

REPAIR STEP(s)
1. Bring vehicle into shop and park on flat surface.
2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral, set parking brake, and install wheel chocks.
3. Unlatch and open hood.
4. See LT/RH Technician Manual (Service and Diagnostic) for Evacuation Procedure.
5. Inspect low pressure (suction) A/C hose and crimps/fittings from evaporator to compressor for signs of failure/leaks/cracking.
See Figure #1. Continue with remaining steps and if needed, replace hose at step 10.

6. Inspect the remainder of the HVAC system with blacklight, with special attention to the Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) area.
If leak is present, inspect TXV mating surfaces for damage. If damaged, replace TXV and seals in step 11.
7. Inspect four HVAC housing mounting nuts that hold the Air Inlet Assembly to bulkhead. If loose, torque to 6.0-7.2 Nm (53 lb-in
to 64 lb­in). See FIgure # 2.

8. Inspect two A/C evaporator to compressor hose support bracket bolts that go through the front of the HVAC Air Inlet
Assembly. If missing, install and torque M8x20 bolt(s) to 23 Nm (17 lb­ft). See Parts List. See Figure #3.

9. If leak was found at Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) step 6 OR if bolts were loose in step 8, replace the evaporator. See
Parts List.
10. If failed A/C evaporator to compressor hose was found at step 5, replace hose.
11. If damaged, replace TXV and seals. Torque TXV mounting hardware 5.5 Nm (11.5 lb-ft).
12. Replace condensor dessicant kit. See Parts List.
13. See LT/RH Technician Manual (Service and Diagnostic) for Fill Procedure
14. Start vehicle to verify proper operation, no leaks, and no fault codes are present.
15. Close and latch hood.
16. Remove wheel chocks.
