The purpose of this Product Upgrade bulletin is to inform REV dealers of
the instructions to improve the clearance between the main floor and the
exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

CONDITION:
On motorhomes affected by this Product Upgrade, a section of nonstructural
tube aluminum, designed as a temporary spacer for assembling the floor
support framing during motorhome production, should be removed to
provide proper clearance for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

Follow the steps below to remove the tube to achieve the correct clearance
for the EGR valve.
1.

Park the motorhome on dry, level pavement. Place the transmission
into NEUTRAL.

2.

Ensure the PARK brake is set and
wheels are blocked to prevent
movement. Maintain control of keys
while work is performed.

3.

The engine access cover is
located in the rear bath. First, the
decorative vertical wood panel on
the front of the lavy cabinet will
need to be removed to gain access
to the repair area. This panel is
held on by four “bull nose” keepers.
Gently grasp and pull off the panel.
Set aside for reinstallation. See
Figures 1a and 1b.

Locate the four screws in the floor for the engine
cover. See Figure 2. Using an “Apex” bit, remove
all four screws. See Figure 3.
Important Note: Do not use a flat screw
driver to remove the engine cover hold down
screws as it will destroy the screw heads.
The slot in the top of an engine cover screw
is contoured to match the circular shape of a
quarter. A quarter secured in a pair of vise grips
can be substituted for an Apex bit.

Remove the engine cover to expose the engine
and EGR valve. See Figure 4. The tube with the
arrow pointing to it must be removed.

6.

The tube shown in Figure 4 is welded on both
ends and in the center. Using your hand, feel for
the three welds. Cut the tube on both ends.
A “SawAll” may be used for this job, but exercise
caution to avoid cutting into the second tube.
Use vice grips or channel locks to grasp the
tube in the approximate center and rotate the
tube upwards to finish fracturing the welds so
the tube can be removed. It may be necessary
to have another technician assist with breaking
off the tube. Discard or recycle the tube that was
removed. The completed repair should look like
the photo in Figure 5.

7. Place the engine access cover back over the
opening. Secure the four hold down screws with
the Apex bit.
8.

Reinstall the wood panel removed in step 3.

9.

Use a shop vac to clean up the area. Ensure
there are no aluminum shavings left behind. This
concludes the procedure.
