SUBJECT VEHICLES: 18MY Conventional Trucks equipped with a

J08 engine
Note: Refer to the appropriate Vehicle Identification Number
in the warranty system to determine vehicle eligibility.
OVERVIEW:

The incorrect date of manufacture may have been printed on the
fuel tank label. If the date of manufacture is incorrect, the label
information will not comply with FMCSA Regulation 49 CFR,
393.67. Month and Year format required for date of manufacture.
The following procedure provides instruction for the inspection
and or replacement of this label.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
- Read and understand all instructions and procedures before you
begin the work.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS and NOTICES set forth in this
publication. These alerts help to avoid damage to components,
serious personal injury, or both.
- Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface.
- Place the gear shift lever in "Neutral" or "Park".
- Apply the parking brake firmly and confirm parking brake
activation.
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Always wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes.
- Place wheel chocks in front of and behind all the
wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.

Label – 90 Gallon Fuel Tank

As Required

VEHICLE PREPARATION:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface.

2. Confirm the engine is stopped, the ignition switch is in the off (LOCK)
position, and the key is removed.

3. Apply the parking brake.

4. Chock all of the wheels.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
1. Locate the fuel tank identification label on top of the fuel tank, below the
left side rear of the cab. Inspect the date code on the label. The date code
should read Month/Year (MM/YY). Example: (07/17). Note: While the
Month may vary, the Year will be “17.” If the date reads Month Year
(MM/YY), no further action is needed. If the date code reads Month/Day
(MM/DD), such as in the example in the photo below, right, which reads
“07/31,” the fuel tank label must be replaced. Proceed to the repair
procedure, below.

To obtain a new label, start a TechAssist case indicating a
replacement label is needed. TechAssist will process the
request and a replacement label will be sent overnight.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove and replace the fuel tank identification label. Ensure the fuel
tank surface is clean and dry before applying the new label. Proceed to the
final inspection procedure, below.

FINAL INSPECTION:
1. To complete this campaign, review and confirm the following:
The fuel tank identification label is well adhered to the fuel tank and shows
the date in MM/YY format.
CLAIM APPLICATION:
Reimbursable in accordance within the terms and policies of the Hino
limited warranties.
